I couldn't remember if it was Criterion Store or B&N that had one in Feb, but I knew I remembered someone was supposed to have one. I've got my list to buy all ready whoever has one.

B&N has consistently had sales in July and November for several years now. Criterion also seems to have a flash sale or two each year to fill in the gaps. Maybe when they hit another landmark in Facebook likes.

I'd wager the flash sale will begin next Tuesday (2/24) at noon EST. The flash sale has been somewhat regular over the past two years:
Monday 9/24/2012
Tuesday 2/26/2013
Tuesday 10/1/2013
Tuesday 2/25/2014
Thursday 10/9/2014 (This sale was likely delayed due to the fallout from the bronzing problem)

No, the Flash sale hasn't started, sorry to get your hopes up just yet!
But another friendly reminder:
The Criterion website still has both Foreign Correspondent and Tess in the Dual Format digipack. These two have both been phased out in stores /etc (they are now separate Blu-ray and DVD editions in plastic cases), so if you want 2 free DVDS & some cardboard packaging, this upcoming sale will be your best opportunity. I'd probably expect most all of the Dual Format digipacks to eventually share this fate at some point in the future (thus I've already bought them all, in anticipation).
Here is a list of the Dual Format digipack releases:
Ace in the Hole
Breaking the Waves
Fantastic Mr Fox
Foreign Correspondent (Already discontinued at most retailers, now separate DVD and Blu editions)
Freshman
Great Beauty
Hard Day's Night
Investigation of a Citizen Above Suspicion
Its a Mad Mad Mad Mad World
Jules and Jim
King of the Hill
Nashville
Persona
Picnic at Hanging Rock
Red River
Scanners
Sorpasso
Tess (Already discontinued at most retailers, now separate DVD and Blu editions)
Tokyo Story
Y tu mamá también
Also, technically World Cinema Project, Jacques Demy and Zatoichi are digipacks - but those will likely remain in a boxset / as is.

For the upcoming flash sale I'm thinking of getting a film that was licensed from IFC. Do you guys have any recommendations?

Are you participating in a scavenger hunt?

Try a film licensed from IFC that got voted for the worst cover.

You can buy single disc replacement cases at Criterion's store, but is there any place to get the 2 disc replacement cases?

Casetopia has them for $0.85 each

Famous last words but I guess Criterion is bucking the trend this year. Ah well, the end of an era

I'm holding out hope through the end of the week. The fall sales bled over from September to October, so maybe the same is happening here? Maybe tomorrow?

Quick, someone buy a new Criterion elsewhere and pay more than 50% off MSRP so the fates will intervene and announce the sale afterwards

Got my copy of Watership Down today. Remember what I sacrificed just so Ordinary Person could get a discounted copy of Tiny Furniture.

If the sale happens it will be on 3/17. Just a guess.

I mean, I'd love for the sale to happen this month, since most of what I want is being released this month, so I hope you're right and/or I hope Prof Wag's sacrifice works out

Does anyone know/remember if the flash sale is only applicable to DVDs and blu-rays or if it extends to stuff like t-shirts and posters?

According to the email for the last one, it's only DVDs and blu-rays.

Criterion.com is "down for maintenance". I've seen it in the past result in a sale in the next day. Get ready!

I noticed that their website has The Soft Skin listed with a March 10 release date while a lot of other websites list March 17. Wondering if they're trying to make its advanced availability a major draw for a potential sale this week.

The press release did say March 10th and I don't believe that changed, and Blu-ray.com lists it as such as well. But looking at other sites they all seem to be saying the 17th so maybe it did change and someone forgot to tell the rest of us...?
