Yes, considering you told me that Souffle was coming just under a year ago!

I like the Melville matching pair covers, not too sure about Missing - I like the look but it could be trying to be too clever, you know? (Though this is exactly the sort of cover that looks much better in person than online!)

In terms of the films themselves I am especially glad to fill in a Melville gap with Second Breath (picked up the BFI of Le Doulos), the extras on Missing will make that worth a purchase and very excited about the Mizoguchi, especially with only the one overlap with the recent MoC series.

Hmmmm... also, where are announcements for the titles that are supposed to come out on Blu in October, but haven't been announced on SD yet? What an odd month...

Christ the Melville covers are bad. #-o

I like the artwork for Missing and the Mizoguchi set (which is the most exciting announcement for October for me =D> )

This must be a work in progress, those boxes around the photos are horrible.

Maybe working on adjusting them to the grey background?

Are all post-"Wacky C" releases supposed to be in clear cases?

I don't know, I think they're supposed to form a gun.

Pretty crappy lookin' gun. It might have worked like that if the top box weren't rotated CCW about 30 degrees. Still, I'm glad to have both these Melvilles, plus the Mizoguchi. Good times!

Serge Reggiani looks like Marti Feldman on that Doulos cover.

They didn't end up announcing any Blu titles this month. That list of Blus that they released a few months ago weren't all coming out in October anyway. That is their initial slate of Blu-ray titles, which were scheduled to begin releasing in October. It may take them six months to get all of those out. They'll slowly roll out those 13 titles, see if anyone buys them, then decide if they want to do any more.

I think we understand that. We just want to know which will come out in October. And we need more cover art to complain about.

I don't get why people are complaining about the Melvilles, they look really stylish and good. And I still hate Salo!

If you're just now seeing it, Le Doulos looked far more MS Paint-y yesterday. Now it's not as bad.

What has changed?

The faces were in different-colored boxes and it seriously looked like a holdover from their Fishing With John/Hopscotch days.

I'm just glad they didn't use still photos for these.

I like the covers, especially the Mizoguchi ones.
So what`s the deal with releasing the Cassavetes titles again? just different covers but with the same extra`s? I already own the 8 disc box set, so these are a bit of useless releases in my book.

Also: again no Last Year In Marienbad? #-o

It's for people like me who loved The Killing of a Chinese Bookie but didn't like any other film in the set.

We talked about this over on the locked thread, but it's for people who are interested in checking out Cassavetes by starting out w these most popular of his films, but would never spring for the whole box set (which has been out long enough to grab the cinephiles willing to spring for it, for the most part). It's like what they did with Jimi Plays Monterey.. and the reverse of what they did w Olivier Shakespeare, and Literary Adaptations. They do futz around w the existing line from time to time.

And I'll accidentally choke it out again:

"Now how about *cough* Woman In The Dunes?"

Then you're missing the point of the design.

The licensing information is difficult to make out on the back cover, but it does look like it was licensed from "Metro Goldwyn Mayer Studios, Inc.," as Jameson281 indicated. The United Artists symbol is also visible at the bottom.
