1968 USA = Rosemary's Baby or Night of the Living Dead UHDs?
1944 USA = Laura?
1997 France = On connaît la chanson?
1997 Japan = Cure?
2019 Guatemala = no clue
1997 USA = Lost Highway
EDIT: Started writing this before anyone else had made guesses

The 2019 film is almost 100% La Llorona, as Never Cursed already said. I didn't much like the film and am quite surprised by Criterion's interest, but why not. Seems like a very horror-heavy October slate

1944 USA could also be Arsenic and Old Lace.
1997 France might be Genealogies of a Crime or On connaît la chanson.

One of his better later works, but I can’t imagine Criterion would bother given the music licensing and the fact that it’s geared 100% at a native French audience and does not translate fully for those who don’t have a shared cultural history of these songs. I’d love to be wrong, but I doubt I am

1944 is actually Arsenic and Old Lace, lest you all forget! but it could just as easily be Laura too, yes. there's also Hail the Conquering Hero!
very glad Cure is confirmed. selfishly really hope Rosemary's Baby is the 68 title but it'll surely be NOTLD

Arsenic and Old Lace on IMDB is listed as 1943. How about To Have and Have Not? I do hope it's Laura though

I doubt Warner would license it out when their Archives Blu exists.

Unless for a UHD release

Henry V for the '44 entry.

as cool as that would be, there's just no way we get that before
Casablanca or
Maltese Falcon

Extremely not an American film
Also, could the French film be
The Fifth Element?

The Uninvited is also 1944 and was previously an October release. Presumably someone at Criterion is a big fan, though I'm still not sure it has the cachet to justify a UHD upgrade

I thought about this one too - there's an existing UHD, but reviews on it are less-than-stellar.

Laura UHD or Hail the Conquering Hero (or the Miracle of Morgan’s Creek for that matter!) would be the dream, but I bet with the Halloween tie-in it will be Arsenic and Old Lace (blah), though Meet Me in St. Louis also works for Halloween and Christmas two month later, but I wonder if WB would want to do their own UHD of that since they seem to be prioritizing Technicolor.

Do you know if the American UHD and the Studiocanal UHD with region B blu-ray are different discs/different transfers? It'd be a real shame if this was the movie, given how easy it is to pick up, but I can't see what other movie from this country/year would get a release like this, plus they wouldn't have to do any work to make a 4k Blu

Actually, could the 1997 French film be Lost Highway? Janus has it listed as under France (and the other Lynch films under the U.S.), so I'm wondering if it could be a but of a misdirection on eerik's part.

I will die laughing if Criterion turn around and somehow release Hana-Bi on 4K or something
if Lost Highway is the "France" film that would free up a US slot, which opens up everything from Boogie Nights to Gummo

Have there been rumors of Laura? I didn’t expect that. I guess they’d be doing a UHD for this?

I think Criterion releasing a bunch of catalogue Fox titles over the last several years for the speculation

it's been a rumor ever since
Anatomy of a Murder came out and I believe Kim Hendrickson or someone at Criterion indicated more Preminger was coming. hilariously, that's still their only title from him

The 1997 US film (assuming Lost Highway is the "French" film) could be Spike Lee's 4 Little Girls, which he confirmed was coming a year or two ago
