Celine Dion aside, that was probably the best memoriam in years. You could actually see the people without having your vision pulled in multiple directions by a bunch of scattered images.

And Rohmer was included last year.

Well no offense, but if you're not saying it's a better choice, then who cares?

I'll speak your language: it's far easier to make sweeping generalizations about the motives of a whole group than it is to actually critique the award on substantial terms. Isn't it?

lol, cool story, Tom.

edit: after Bigelow winning last year and now Hooper, I have to wonder if the academy voters even know what directing is?

Why isn't he accepting his award in the extreme right or left of the camera?

I disagree with whoever (mfunk?) said that The King's Speech makes a poor villian for this year's Oscars. I didn't think it was a terrible film, but it's exactly the kind of mediocre Ron Howard-level crap that drives me batty about the fucking Oscars. I just can't see future generations looking back at us and saying, "Boy, they really nailed that Tom Hooper award."

The music should cut off and out comes Godard in a Star Wars landspeeder.

This is the highlight of the night for me, I'm really happy for Eli Wallach. I've always thought he was one of the most underappreciated actors of all time.

The Ron Howard comparison is perfect. And yeah, I fail to see how this film will not be totally forgotten in a decade.

How hilarious would it be if the Social Network still won Best Pic? Like, most awkward award split in Oscar history. C'mon c'mon c'mon
