Is this the first time Tooze has ever "NSFW censored" a review? Did the studios complain or is he trying to atone for the past?
No matter what he reviews, I think its implied that it will be NSFW in one way or another so I wonder why he bothered (there can probably be another side topic of comedic stories of people visiting DVDBeaver at importune times - before they realized that Tooze will find any shot of nudity).

I dd notice this on recently looking through DVDBeaver's latest reviews a couple of days ago and the 'NSFW link' seems to be a new development across all reviews. The Handmaiden has about half of its screenshots NSFW-linking for example!

Warner Archive is running 4 for $44 sale. Time to stack up on those blu-ray releases.

Also free shipping. I ended up getting 10 titles since I have bought any WAC for a long time. $11 a title seemed to good to pass up.

Indeed! Though I'm again surprised Criterion isn't releasing this since they have the other two Frankenheimer films. A "Paranoia" box set would have been a pretty cool release.

They must be reading our thread - there's no other sensible explanation why this would get a release.

You say that now, but the 2-4 other May releases that come out of left field have yet to rear their heads.

The Accidental Tourist
This is one of those films I've never seen whose title nonetheless seems monolithically familiar for whatever reason. Like
Rochelle, Rochelle.

Just one question:
i see "world without end" has also subtitles in CAPITALS!
I find this very annoying.
Do all WAC Bluray releases now have that format or is it a random thing?

Tony Richardson's The Loved One.

Any of the releases that have the simpler WAC style menus and not the normal WB template menus likely have the all-caps subs. These releases use a different subtitle vender. (Subs on these releases will also usually be yellow on B&W films).

I was blown away by A Taste of Honey last year and now want to dig into the Brit New Wave more. How does this one stack up?

I've actually seen all three of these movies and like them all, so :-"
I'll just have a ridiculous guess the fourth title for the month will be Ragtime apropos of nothing

It's not a Brit New Wave film aside from Richardson's direction, as it was made after he moved to America - considering Ashby edited it (the reason I've seen it), it's absolutely a rather sizeable influence on Harold & Maude though it's a lot less, er, good, or even emotionally involved at all. It's a cold, cold movie.

To Have and Have Not was the last 40s film WA released. That was back in July. I guess they are done with the 30s and 40s. Maybe Criterion will salvage some to those decades' gems that WA doesn't want to touch.

Battleground was actually their last 40s film, released in January.

I don't think it's "cold" so much as very droll, acerbic and surreal, which is fitting given its director, source novel by Evelyn Waugh and screenplay by the late and brilliant Terry Southern. Really fantastic film that skewers Southern California culture, and pairs beautifully with the same year's
Lord Love a Duck. Great cinematography by DP/producer Haskell Wexler (whose work on
America, America is seriously crying out for an HD release, too).

Oh right, the Wellman film. Ok, so 1 in 9 months. Pretty sparse.
