Eh, that one seems like the type of thing that would've been bitched about as Criterion running out of original ideas. At least the one they are using is creating a real discussion, for what it's worth.
My two cents? Being familiar with but not actually having seen THE VIRGIN SPRING, I wasn't too keen on it at first, but it's really starting to grow on me and I think holding it in my hands'll do it plenty of justice. The polarization between her expression, the superimposed knife, and the subject matter of the film is just disturbing enough to get a little bit of a gnaw going in my gut without smashing it over my head.

Well, you can't use, you know, that "V" word. I thought about using "The XXX Spring", but thought it better to just let the "reviews" sell it.tasog37 wrote:It's extra funny because you left off the name.
EDIT: I decided on a new way to do the name. The quote marks around "Virgin" is there to bring in the soft porn crowd -- very important to sales, you know.

Anyone else notice that the Criterion tagline changed from "The Criterion Collection, a continuing series of classic and important contemporary films, presents, " to "The Criterion Collection, a continuing series of important classic and contemporary films, presents," at the same time that the cover logo changed (with Brazil)?

Yep, and to prove how nerdy I am, The Rock says "The Criterion Collection, a series of important classic and contemporary films, presents", missing the "a continuing series"matt wrote:Anyone else notice that the Criterion tagline changed from "The Criterion Collection, a continuing series of classic and important contemporary films, presents, " to "The Criterion Collection, a continuing series of important classic and contemporary films, presents," at the same time that the cover logo changed (with Brazil)?

Thumbs down. I like the concept of the family tree and all, but it needs a different background color...the black and white shots of Alex as the various characters seem a bit out of place as well....I dunno reminds me of some of my least favorite Criterion covers like Trouble in Paradise and The Lady Vanishes.
