That Italian set is probably the best deal they've ever offered, assuming you somehow don't own any of the titles

The Griffith set looks really good, too.

Anybody know about the quality of Broken Blossoms?
It's the only disc not reviewed on Beaver.

If anyone buys the Japan set and now has a dupe of Nakes Island I'd be interested in that. I have a dupe of L'argent which we could trade too

Re: MoC: Cheapest Prices / Best Places to Buy / Pre-Orders
I used to have all three of those Griffith releases (plus others) from Eureka. My biggest problem with them - and other very early Eureka silent releases - was the excessive image sharpening (see the Beaver caps of Intolerance) and particularly image stabilization, causing a curious and (to me) very distracting effect where sections of the image - sometimes individual objects - wobble while the rest of the frame is steady. Some films were worse than others. Another problem on The Birth of a Nation was that the removal of the tints made the sequences that were originally deep red look unnaturally dark.Der Spieler wrote:Anybody know about the quality of Broken Blossoms?

I compared them all with the Kino releases I later obtained and felt the Kinos were better in every case, especially Broken Blossoms, though I do still cherish my off-air Photoplay edition of that one. I do not feel the Griffiths are among Eureka's best work, even from pre-MoC days, but if you're on a budget and not distracted by excessive digital manipulation they may be worth the modest price asked.

Could I trouble you to add The Naked Island (unbundled) and Funeral Parade of Roses to the next sale?
Wrong topic, I know, but are there any near plans (other than Fantastic Planet and Metropolis) for Blu upgrades of catalog titles?

Currently one plan, but it's not been completely finalised. We'll let you know as soon as we know it's getting the go-ahead.

I believe Nick mentioned previously that Onibaba and Kwaidan would get upgraded to Blu, of course things may have changed since then.

I said if any were likely, we'd probably pick those two. I didn't say that we're definitely doing them. As of right now, there's nothing going on with those two, because they've not been released in Japan yet and they require a 6 month delay.

Re: MoC: Cheapest Prices / Best Places to Buy / Pre-Orders
I'm sorry if this has been asked before, but is there a tentative schedule of films to be released in BD by MOC in the near future? Specially titles that overlap with Criterion?
I love Eureka.
Thanks.
