Since Milestone is now sold out of the Polish box, their site doesn't seem to offer pricing info. What were they charging for the set?

Just got my Polish set in the mail, packaged perfectly and in A+ condition. You go, Milestone!

Thank you for noticing! I spent two days of packing and my fingers were covered in bandaids by the end, so I'm very appreciative of the note. But no chips -- the salt would really hurt on all those cuts and I'm low-carb these days. :-)

After a brief hiccup where the post office told me they were going to return the package instead of delivering it, my Masterpieces of Polish Cinema arrived today. What a gorgeous looking set! Will be fun to work through it.

Really excellent customer service from Milestone, both with the well thought out packaging, as well as assuring me all would be taken care of no matter what my post office ended up doing.

Received mine yesterday. Unfortunately the two inner "walls" that hold the individual film cases were crushed and bent to all kinds of hell, which was really disappointing. Excited to check out the films themselves though.

Mine too (on one side, anyway). Seems inevitable with the force of eight sturdy cases up against the same width of flimsy cardboard. (This thing is literally two times wider and a fair amount taller than it needs to be, though I guess when I think of Polish cinema, the first thing that comes to mind is cubes. :-k ) Otherwise though, very clever/lovely design.

Supposedly the films are of some interest as well.

150 copies, and it took less than 12 hours to sell out the first 90.

Can someone please give the link where the set may be ordered (if it is still available)?
Thank you.

Just placed my order. Is that 150 additional copies or total being sold?

Same thing for mine (which I got direct from Poland). It's the kind of thing not even the famously impenetrable Polish packaging could do anything to prevent. Still, lovely design as long as it doesn't budge from the packing plant.

Maybe they should have sent it by medical courier? They probably charged me enough to do so.

The things you people do to my wallet. I just ordered the set!

Those side pieces are just poorly constructed. The paper bends too easily, the dimensions seem just a little too tight. They should have used a heavier cardstock. My copy suffers the same way.

It just overall seems way too big of a box looking at the content. it's fine to display or to buy in a physical store, but there's so much empty space inside it can't be anything but impossible to protect enough when shipping it.

I still don't understand why they chose to have so much empty space inside instead of simply doing an outer case the same way anybody else is doing (like the Arrow or Eureka's ones for instance).

That's true. The inside pieces are really nice. The outer box is extra voluminous, and it doesn't harmonize too elegantly with the really lovely interior designs.

I wonder if the box initially was to include more titles? That might account for the extra space.

I think you're overthinking this. It's just bad design. The whole thing has been poorly thought out. The distribution is abysmal too. You cannot even buy it in the big DVD and Blu-ray stores in Poland. No wonder the price is so high.

For some reason they thought a perfect cube would be aesthetically satisfying I guess, so they set all three dimensions based on the height of a DVD case. It wouldn't have been too difficult to maintain some kind of structural integrity inside if they'd just inserted some styrofoam blocks or something under those "wings" on either side of the cases. It is kind of clever how they indicate the director and release period for each of the films, but kind of clever doesn't cancel out crumpled.

Ditto from Portland, Oregon! Thank you drdoros.
And, yes!, this blue cube is no cigar box.

I received this yesterday, and it was packaged very, very nicely. Arrived in great condition. I'm ready for the weekend so I can dig into the films!
