Me, too:

The Stranger 1967 3.6 stars 104 mins Foreign (Italian) Rated: NR starting 01-Jun-2010
In this faithful adaptation of the Albert Camus novel, Marcello Mastroianni plays Arthur Meursault, a man completely alienated from his society and surroundings whose lack of feeling that eventually leads to murder. During Meursault's subsequent trial, it is this lack of feeling -- rather than the act itself -- that outrages onlookers in this Golden Globe nominee from Italian director Luchino Visconti (Death in Venice).

Black Sunday 1960 3.1 stars 87 mins Horror Rated: NR starting 01-Jun-2010
In Mario Bava's black-and-white gothic horror masterpiece steeped in rich atmosphere, condemned witch Princess Asa (Barbara Steele) returns from the dead two centuries after her execution and wreaks vengeance on her killers' family. Possessing the body of a descendant who happens to look just like her, Asa pulls out all the stops to exact her revenge. This is Bava's credited directorial debut, and it catapulted Steele and him to stardom.

Matinee 1993 2.8 stars 99 mins Children & Family Rated: PG starting 28-May-2010
Aging movie producer Lawrence Woolsey (John Goodman) screens his latest schlock-licious B-movie -- filled with atomic blasts and human mutation -- and gets the attention of teen horror-flick buff Gene Loomis (Simon Fenton), all while the Cuban Missile Crisis intensifies. Joe Dante directs this hilarious, touching and nostalgic tale based in Key West, Fla., in 1962. Cathy Moriarty and Kellie Martin co-star.

Lorna's Silence 2008 3.0 stars 105 mins Foreign (French) Rated: R starting 21-May-2010
While saving up to open her own snack bar in the Belgian city of Liège, Albanian immigrant Lorna (Arta Dobroshi) is given a shot at citizenship when local mobster Fabio (Fabrizio Rongione) arranges a sham marriage to drug addict Claudy (Jérémie Renier). But when Fabio plots to kill Claudy, Lorna gets dragged into the mobster's sordid plan in this gripping drama from the acclaimed Belgian directors Jean-Pierre and Luc Dardenne.

The Girl on the Train 2009 3.2 stars 102 mins Foreign (French) Rated: NR starting 18-May-2010
Inspired by a true story, director André Téchiné's riveting drama centers on a young Parisian woman (Émilie Dequenne) who captures the attention of her country when she claims she's been the target of a hate crime. International film legend Catherine Deneuve also stars in this ripped-from-the-headlines tale, which explores the power of prejudice and the diminishing credibility of modern-day media.

Also coming:
A Girl Cut in Two 2007 3.2 stars 115 mins Foreign (French) Rated: NR starting 07-Jun-2010
In this Venice Film Festival award winner from legendary director Claude Chabrol, a beautiful TV weather girl (Ludivine Sagnier) is torn between two suitors -- one older and married, the other her age and available. Chabrol's trademark black humor is on full display as he documents his characters' often perverse choices. François Berléand and Benoît Magimel co-star in this film inspired by the 1906 murder of architect Stanford White.

A Christmas Tale 2008 2.9 stars 152 mins Foreign (French) Rated: NR starting 07-Jun-2010

The all-star ensemble cast includes Jean-Paul Roussillon, Catherine Deneuve, Mathieu Amalric, Hippolyte Girardot, Emmanuelle Devos and Deneuve's real-life daughter, Chiara Mastroianni.

The Man from London 2007 3.5 stars 132 mins Foreign (French) Rated: NR starting 07-Jun-2010
After railway worker Maloin (Miroslav Krobot) witnesses a murder, he retrieves the victim's briefcase full of money from the harbor. A London police inspector (István Lénárt) comes looking for the cash, but for Maloin it's not about wealth; it's about escaping the monotony of his life. Tilda Swinton, Erika Bók, János Derzsi and Volker Spengler co-star in director Béla Tarr's adaptation of Georges Simenon's novel.

Bright Star 2009 3.2 stars 119 mins Drama Rated: PG starting 10-Jun-2010
Critically acclaimed Australian filmmaker Jane Campion helms this drama detailing the passionate three-year romance between 19th-century Romantic poet John Keats (Ben Whishaw) -- who died tragically at age 25 -- and his great love and muse, Fanny Brawne (Abbie Cornish). Much of the story was inspired by Keats's poetry and the actual love letters the pair exchanged. Thomas Sangster, Paul Schneider and Kerry Fox co-star.

Does Netflix carry 'More Treasures from American Film Archives' ? I found Volumes III and IV after a bit of searching, though IV is in the saved section.

Along with being available for streaming, this now appears to be coming back for disc rental.

What's the actual resolution of HD streamed films? I assume it's not 1080p.

I believe I heard "HD" for Netflix streaming was 720p? Don't quote me on that though.

In more upbeat news, Netflix has added the latest Sony Hammer collection and some of the recent Code Red titles (The Internecine Project, Goodbye Gemini, Girly, etc.) since I bitched about their not carrying them earlier in this thread. Still no sign of the Universal Barbara Stanwyck collection at all, though, and the Oshima Eclipse set is still listed as "Save." So please save the latter to your queue if you're up for lobbying NF to add it.

The new Brakhage set is also still listed as "save" without an availability date, *sigh*

I was a bit surprised to find out that I could give my father, who does not live with me, my login and password to Netflix and that he could use the account at his home to stream movies.

What's preventing people from sharing their information like this so that friends and family or even strangers can stream from the same account? (I'm not complaining, I'm just surprised it works.)

They'll log your IP and MAC Addresses and if accounts are being regularly shared and T&Cs are being broken then they'll close the account.

Why are you surprised? Streaming services are kind of worthless if you can only use them on one computer or one IP address.

You can only have your instant viewing account set up on something like 5 computers each year. I learned this the hard way once when I was (somewhat incompetently) trying to reformat/install Windows on a computer (which I did several times in short succession) and each time I made the mistake of reinstalling the instant viewing program. After a few times, it wouldn't let me do it anymore, and told me I had to call Netflix to resolve the situation. (Thankfully, they gave me one more install for the year after I called.)

Like Dylan mentioned in Visconti's The Stranger thread, Netflix screwed up big time by mixing up Welle's Stranger with that one. We'll see how long it takes them to fix it. They certainly haven't been great at fixing movie description errors or complaints of broken discs being sent repeatedly for the same movie. At least in my experience. Calling them for stuff like that seems like a waste of time.

Any information on the "Friend" feature? I used to love going to a film's page and seeing what my friends had rated it. Without this, what is the point of the friend feature anyway? #-o

I have tried to contact Netflix, but they don't have a general email address or general query/recommendation email address.

Seriously?

It was already 'developed'. You could have just left it be and never thought about it again. I know companies don't like to leave things static, but taking away a feature because you don't have new ideas on how to fix something that was never broke in the first place is simply dumb. And 2%? I'll take their word..I guess; however, that seems like a gross under-approximation.

Do they really expect higher numbers when they hide the friends page anyway?

Given that it's been three months since that announcement, I bet they'll phase it out sooner rather than later. In the past month, they moved the "friends" link to the far right bottom corner of the page. No matter that there's been close to two thousand complaints on their blog and a whole bunch of protest reviews on their site. It's too bad; there really were some nice lists on their site. Certainly, the friends section was hardly dying on the vine.

Clearly there's a need for a DVD lists site where people can mix and match to create their own lists and interact with each other.
