I hate it when they give a clue to something we already know.

Criterion's mad at us, so it wasn't surprising

I choose to believe that hint means they'll finally be releasing Von Stroheim's "The Wedding March."

oh shame on you Morgan Creek for making me salivate in likely futility. Can you imagine a stunning Blu-Ray of Chimes at Midnight? That is way to tantalizing however improbable.

Holy Hell! Judy Holiday is totally tickling Dean Martin's scrotum.
And can we also add Belle de jour to our blue ball list?

A left field suggestion - SOCRATES?....
(Or more obviously, IT'S A WONDERFUL LIFE, 'bells ring every time an angel gets its wings'...)

Yeah, that did occur to me after I posted...
How would the visual of the winged youth/angel/messenger holding up a garland of leaves, tie into CHIMES AT MIDNIGHT?... (Would love that too, making do with the less than perfect Spanish DVD currently)....

I agree about Wonderful Life being a seasonal do. Similarly I'd love to see Chimes, but don't they have to get that pass the Bag lady or is it outside the Beatrice sphere of influence?
Re the clue - my gut immediately spoke up for Wings of Desire due to the heavy wing action but what about the peace imagery with the laurels and the doves? And what about the bells? Where's all that in it ,am I missing something?
From memory the german title is Heaven over Berlin isn't it?

But the bells Esmerelda.... The bells???

I think maybe the 'bells' are this song by Crime & The City Solution - 'Six Bells Chime', which appears in the film...
The scene from WINGS where it is
performed

One would think, since that's the film beneath the splash page if you follow the hyperlink-- but number ten is indeed "Fellini" lol.

Well, he already had 11 films in his Top 9, so he was just trying to shoehorn a few more in. Monte seems fond of tooting his own horn.
Are any of these Top 10's worth reading?
I just skimmed around, and I liked Guy Maddin's choices and write-ups. Any others noteworthy, insightful, etc.?

I thought Adam Yauch's was pretty amusing.

Was there anything lacking in the previous edition of
Wings of Desire? I have it but haven't watch it in a dog's age. Seemed to be pretty strong. But I guess they could try to pull out a 2-discer with
City of Angels included. It's about time Meg Ryan crept into the CC and gave it some true street cred--word.

I think it's a safe bet Criterion will be issuing WOD on Blu. Speaking of 2-disc sets, any chance they'll put it together with Faraway, So Close?
