The recent SFSFF presentation was from a
35mm print from Warner, not a new restoration. It seems that the last restoration was the 2023 2k discussed on
Nitrateville.

A real chance in the sense that nobody else has picked up the WB restoration; wishful thinking in the sense that I don't think Criterion would prioritize it (but I'll keep guessing it anyway).

Manhunter: The Final Cut? When I watched the version on the Criterion channel last year I found the 80s score to be annoying and detract from the film, but if this new version minimizes the music as in the new trailer, I just might give it a second look.

I don’t know. I can never guess at what Criterion prioritizes. Things they have released I would never think were priorities and films I think are seem to not be. Lubitsch seems to rate highly for CC. So there is that. And with a recent restoration I’ll take that as a positive. So keep guessing away

Wow, the score and soundtrack is one of its strongest qualities, IMO. The use of Shriekback’s “This Big Hush” in particular is just wonderful

The Shriekback track is fine, if they'd scored the whole movie I probably wouldn't have minded. It's the score by The Reds that I found too distracting.
