Does the absence of a Trilogy of life clue indicate it's not coming anytime soon?

While I agree that it's probably Something Wild, Criterion would make my fucking year if it turned out they were releasing The Duellists.

That's definitely Jonathan Demme, not Ridley Scott. They really do bear a remarkable resemblance to each other as they've gotten older though! Criterion confirmed
Something Wild to me 15 months ago (with further assurances since then), so it's a pretty safe bet.
It's out of print now, but Paramount released their own very well-appointed DVD of
The Duellists. I wouldn't turn it down, but I'd be surprised to see Criterion go after it.

I'm guessing it's Something Wild. Does anyone know if Spalding Gray and Swimming to Cambodia have been discussed as a possible release?

Maybe Criterion somehow magically got the rights back for Silence of the Lambs. But yeah, Something Wild seems to be the logical choice.

Can anyone recall how long Criterion took to release Che after it was put up on Netflix? As I mentioned in another thread, Carlos is going to be streamable on the 15th in its entirety; if Criterion are taking a similar approach to this release, perhaps we'll see an announcement soon. As for Week End, I'm very excited that the wait may finally be over.

If the forum is to be believed Che was available at Dec. 20, or about a month before it's announcement.

I hope so because out of Pasolini's entire body of work the Trilogy of Life is an absolute borefest. His Mythical Cycle is so much more better/intesting

Gray's Anatomy has been forthcoming for years, and I believe there have been rumors of a Gray boxset to coincide with the release of the new documentary
...And Everything is Going Fine, so I imagine
Swimming to Cambodia is a possibility for the future.

Solaris has been announced for May BD upgrade:
We will be announcing new Blu-ray and DVD editions of Solaris as part of our May lineup. We now know that the black-and-white scenes in the film were meant to be tinted blue, and we have updated the feature accordingly. The supplements from the original DVD will not change.
The old DVD edition is officially out of print. However, we are offering it at a 65% discount from the SRP at criterion.com (use the promotion code RHEYA at checkout). We have a limited supply and will fulfill orders as soon as we can.

I'm sure they'll pair up Gray's Anatomy and Everything is Going Fine. They are both IFC titles, so it makes sense. IFC doesn't seem to have any rights to Swimming to Cambodia, so that seems unlikely.

First post.
Something Wild is a worthy release. I have just sold my old MGM disc in anticipation of Criterion's bells and whistles edition. Any thoughts on the supplements? I would love to see some contribution from Paul Thomas Anderson, considering his adulation and subsequent friendship with Demme.

I know it's a foregone conclusion that "Something Wild" is the Demme title, but it'd sure be nice if it was a surprise 2-title release month with either "Citizen's Band" or "Last Embrace"

Since one would expect the May releases would be announced this week, does anyone have any predictions on what those would be (besides the Solaris re-release)?

The Great Dictator's supposed to be sometime this year. I'm kind of hoping we'll get more than one Chaplin at once, though- if they stick the First National shorts into a box with the Kid and sell that, I'd be on board.
Also, I'm guessing Something Wild's getting announced this month.

Is Dictator confirmed to be the next Chaplin release?

It's the only Chaplin that has been explicitly hinted at as forthcoming.

Solaris, Carlos, Chaplin, Eclipse. And one more recent: a wildcard.

I'll go:
Solaris (duh)
Le Samurai (they only have so long)
Journey to Italy (it's unreleased major Rossellini)
By the Bluest of Seas (something completely random that I want)
In other words, movielocke's selection seems about right.
