The simpering, terminally ill lady wearing a straw hat ruins the race car action feel as well - she seems much too genteel to be interested in motor cars!

I've not seen the film but after reading the imdb review by 'Gary' I feel compelled search it out!:
Charming, if slightly patronizing 70's drama. Superb direction. Subtle and understated script. Pacino at his most gorgeous. Howlingly funny, despite it's tragic subject matter. A memorable ending, brilliantly realised. I'd forgotten about the "look, it's Bobby Deerfield" scene as well as all that stuff about salami. Pacino's reactions, especially after first dropping off Marthe Keller at her uncles, are perfectly pitched, dead pan gems. Inexplicably maligned by many, this hidden jewel may be due a timely re-assessment, not least because Keller's performance now seems perfectly in tune with the Ritalin generation.

Based on the VHS art, I always thought this was a puffy-shirt costume drama.

This sentence is art.

I'm guessing the cover artist had no idea what the film was about.

The heavy metal font here made me laugh:

A UK DVD retitling of this film. The US got Gangs of the Dead as their DVD title - a Gangs of New York/Land of the Dead mash up?

It can cruise a mere ten feet from the ground and remain undetected! I thought the film was called 'Flight of Furry', though, and it was one of those light comedy, 'soften up the tough guy's image' vehicles, whereby Seagal cluster bombs innocent civilians along with his personable lovable dog in tow as his co-pilot. Then his (female) commander falls for him, and her dog gets it on with his. Oh, cursory glances!

I guess if you're only going to wear one earring, it might as well be as large and gaudy as possible

I'm sorry. I didn't know you were on stage, Ms. Dion.

I like the way they've picked a different font for each title.

Thanks for that - I should have had the nous to upload these months ago, as those monstrosities have been sitting in my office for ages!

By contrast, I decided to hire a professional designer when putting together my effort.

I think it's Blossoming Night Dreams, but I much prefer your version.

Most people have an angel on one shoulder and a devil on the other. Andrew McCarthy has Andrew McCarthy on his shoulder.

I feel bad nitpicking though, given that this is the Release of The Year

An Australian meat pie is a hand-sized pie containing largely minced meat and gravy and often consumed as a takeaway food snack.

It is considered iconic and has been described by many, including former New South Wales Premier Bob Carr in 2003, as Australia's "national dish" [Wikipedia]
