I take it you're not interested in
Rapture!

Forgot this one.
But overall, even if I might exagerate a bit, it seems to me that a lot of titles acquired and released by TT are getting cheaper+better releases here and there (but that might just be an impression).

I wish I liked The Fury enough to buy it twice, the Arrow looks to be a great set. Maybe if it also has a better transfer/master than the TT I'll buy it in a couple of years when the TT is fetching a bit.
The TCM2 set is just fantastic news, the film is a lot of fun and it tickles me that a film like this is getting such a ridiculously deluxe edition. I mean, 2 Blu-rays and a 100 page bound book? Makes me wish they had the original as well.
I'll stick with my Criterion NotH since this looks to be same, unless they happen to get the [nervous laughter] aspect ratio correct. It doesn't look like they've included this in their specs (*nevermind, Twitter says 1.66:1)

Probably more of an impression. Here's a rundown:

Bummed at Body Snatchers not being ready for October. Would have gotten the Laughton if I didn't already have the Criterion but the new cover is wonderful. Undecided about The Fury as yet - anyone recommend a blindbuy or should I rent it first? For context, I have Dressed To Kill, Blow Out and Carlito's Way and love the latter two especially.

It's licensed from MGM, so it would be a huge surprise. Especially since they've put out an inferior Region A package themselves.

The "inferior" Region A Blu-ray cost me all of four dollars new on Amazon and has many of the same extras. Yes, super fans of Hooper will get their fill from Arrow, but it's not like MGM tainted the water supply with their disc

Dang, that does sound like a prize package though.

Essentially, it's the same version that's on the US BD, although the Arrow matches all its extras and throws in several more.
Will there be a new transfer as well? The specs say 'presentation from a digital transfer supervised by Director of Photography Richard Kooris'.

In relation to Watchmaker Films, I’m wondering what to make of the inclusion of the early Hooper films with the Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 blu. Wasn’t Eggshells supposed to be Watchmaker’s next release? I know it looks like they've been on shaky ground for the past couple of years, so should I take this as a sign that the label has finally folded? Perhaps someone with greater knowledge about how these things work could elucidate.

No-one's saying that they did. I'm merely saying that because MGM has catered for the much bigger Region A market themselves, it's very much in their interests to insist on Arrow region-locking their version.
Especially if it's a more attractive package!

I just got an industry magazine here in the UK (arrived through my door this morning) and there's a full page ad showing blu-ray Arrow Academy releases for The Long Goodbye, Kaufman's Invasion of the Body Snatchers, Wes Craven's The People Under The Stairs and Carpenter's Big Trouble In Little China. These will be released in Q4.
Also includes the releases for The Fury and Night of the Hunter but to my knowledge the above films haven't been announced publicly as of yet?
Sorry if this is old news, but couldn't see it mentioned and wanted to share.

That's a really nice cover for The Long Goodbye - I've got to assume that The Beyond listing is just for a steelbook edition?
I think I need a better paying job...

They better do a new scan for it : Potemkine French BD is far from being perfect.

I asked Arrow on their FB page if they would be interested in getting THE DRIVER from Fox and they've been quiet so far. It'd fit right in with the rest of their titles. It'd also appear that the four titles announced in the trades are all November as they confirmed to a Blu-Ray.com member via Twitter that their December and January will be lighter.

The Arrow store has just listed a
Brian De Palma triple-pack, containing the
Obsession,
Dressed To Kill and
Blow Out Blu-rays for £30 (with a
Steelbook option of the latter for an additional £5). Add another disc or two for free international shipping - a no-brainer if I ever saw one!
I mean WOW - first
Runaway Train, then these amazing De Palma releases,
Night of the Hunter, and now
The Long Goodbye on Blu - this has got to be hands down the most exciting streak of releases from any single label in a long time. All hail Arrow Films!

Arrow are doing outstanding work. Have there been any new specifics about the cult European director whom they hope to rehabilitate via that previously mentioned big multi-disc box set? I'm assuming not but if Arrow have yet another big announcement forthcoming it really seals the deal for them being the most exiciting cult video label in the world right now. Heaven knows what else they have up their sleeve for 2014.

No. And you can bet your bottom dollar that when they do make an announcement, it'll be posted here within a matter of milliseconds!

Arrow has just confirmed Umberto Lenzi's delirious Nightmare City as a 2014 Blu-ray release.

I had a dream the night before yesterday that the "cult European director" will be Bo Widerberg. There should be great HD transfers out there. But he's probably not cult enough, though.

More like the wrong sort of cult for the regular Arrow fanbase - someone like Jean Rollin or Zulawski would probably come sooner to mind, though the latter probably isn't in need of "rehabilitation" - although these recent acquisitions have shuffled that deck pretty intriguingly... Wasn't Olive supposed to put out some Widerberg films later this year? I'm under the impression that the Swedes have recently done new HD transfers of at least some of them. (By the way I read a
review of the Swedish Widerberg box that said they've messed up with
Man on the Roof, so better avoid that one until we see what Olive comes up with)

Arrow actually released Elvira Madigan on DVD but I don't think Bo Widerberg is "misunderstood" like this mystery director.

My Arrow order (which arrived in less than a week after ordering it. Thanks guys!), came with a few leaflets/postcards informing us of future releases!
Tinto Brass (hopefully these go better than the other two they've done):
Cheeky
Frivolous Lola
White of the Eye (1987) -Donald Cammell
Sisters (1973)- De Palma
Plus they also announced Umberto Lenzi's Nightmare City (1980)
Anybody else discover anything in their orders? Seems like we're finding out about a new release from Arrow everyday now. I do hope they increase their output (while maintaining quality), cause this brand certainly has a ton of great stuff.

Arrow just posted their Q4 lineup on Facebook, I think the only one that hasn't been mentioned yet is Lucio Fulci's The Beyond (1981) - or has it? The Long Goodbye and Lifeforce covers look amazing, really cool.

As far as I'm aware, The Beyond is merely a steelbook repackaging of their existing disc.
