I hate the Criterion Collection Store bump as much as, or more, than Dom hates the Cover Art bump.

For the next 24 hours at Criterion.com, all in-stock Blu-rays and DVDs will be 50% off the suggested retail price (SRP). It’s a great chance to check out our exciting recent releases, including The Graduate, Inside Llewyn Davis, Gilda, The American Friend, The Kid, The Emigrants/The New Land, Death by Hanging, I Knew Her Well, Bitter Rice, and The Complete Lady Snowblood.
Just enter the promotional code FEB50 on your shopping cart page to apply the discount.
If you need some help deciding what to buy, we’ve created a real-time dashboard where you can see top sellers and what’s running low, plus categories like great adaptations, documentaries, Oscar nominees, cult films, noir and neonoir, new American cinema, and more. And we’ll be adding new themes every few hours.
The sale ends at noon EST tomorrow, February 24, so don’t delay!

Quick note of caution: Make sure you enter your coupon code after all items are added to the cart.
I just tried adding a few items to my cart, entered the code, then added a few more, and the second batch of items didn't have the code applied to them.

I can't get pages to load. They must be getting hammered.

Definitely hammered. I lost 'em on checkout. Don't recall this happening on their site before.

It was starting to slow down toward checkout, and then I made the mistake of going back in for one more Blu and lost it all. Greed does me in again...

Yeah, the site is working like trash for me, and I'm on a really hyper-fast LAN connection at work. Oh well. Will check in later to see if I can pick the bones.

Just got through checkout after waiting 10 minutes or so...

I was just able to place an order without too much hassle, though it took several tries to open up some of the product pages for some reason.

Does anyone know when the loyalty points are updated? It's been about 10 minutes and the counter hasn't been updated (I was only 16 away from getting the $50 certificate).

Putzing around catching up on emails, getting sidetracked, getting back to emails again and there all along had been Criterion's sale email sitting there unnoticed. It turns out the items I put into cart a couple days ago while I was logged in weren't there any more so I had to put them all in again. A little slow, but got 'em all.

Criterion seems to be the only site I use with a cart that doesn't allow you to keep stuff in the cart. No idea why that is.

I just got my gift certificate by email right after my purchase put me over the top (which happened instantly).

Crossing my fingers that Criterion will respond before the sale is up then.

I was just able to place an order since I had to abandon it earlier. Placed an order for 3 movies released this year, think that's actually one more than all I own from last year.

Glad to hear I'm not the only one moving away from buying so many Criterions (or for me, disc-based media all around). I had three titles in my cart and thought "ehhhh, that's 60 bucks I could better spend elsewhere" and I'm feeling pretty good about it.

I've never had an easier time deciding to buy all of the releases from the last two months (and I would have said three if the March titles had been eligible). They should seriously consider adding an "order everything since the last sale" button.
mfunk, how are you not getting at least Llewyn Davis and I Knew Her Well?

Fear not, I splurged on the BBS set earlier as a direct result of your OOP warning about it, and I've bought more discs in the last year than in the last five probably -- not including the stuff I buy for work.

Hah, by the same token, I can't tell you how many underwhelming meals I've had at overpriced restaurants in NYC (never places I wanted to go). If I cut those out altogether, it could easily finance my modest Criterion wish list at any given time, and then some.

Not sure if this is the right place to ask, but has anyone bought The Rock Box? I'm interested in getting all four of those titles for the price that I could get two on sale, but I wanted to make sure that they're not "condensed" versions of the standalone releases. Since it's describing all four at once, the list of extras is pretty vague and I don't want to be losing anything significant (although I know that, in the case of Hard Day's Night, it's in a standard case rather than a digipak).

The only difference appears to be Hard Day's Night won't have the large booklet that came with the dual format edition. You also don't Jimi Plays Monterey and Shake! which you get in the Monterey Pop set, but you can still buy it separately. But everything else should be there.

My lack of purchases has far more to do with underwhelming releases and encoding issues than preference for disc based media, but admittedly I'm a sucker for new restaurants.

I have
Inside Llewyn Davis from the day that release came out, and
I Knew Her Well was one of those three items in my cart but the underwhelming features sort of held me back. I really am seeing less and less need to own a ton of stuff as physical media unless it has the combination of both being a film/TV show I love AND having worthwhile features. Streaming is too easy and reliable if I'm only watching a film once, or once every few years/decades.

I'm glad to see the World Cinema Project is running low, even if it is a couple years since it came out.
But who thought Salo would be a good fit for the "Sexy Italians" category?
