Drunken Master
Budd Boetticher Collection
Exodus
Miracle Worker
All the Nightmare on Elm Street dvds
Hardware (dvd and blu)
Santa Sangre (dvd and blu)
Looks like Severin might be having some problems. Just about all their releases just went out of print.

If you're even vaguely interested in westerns (or great cinema) grab this while you can. It was a minor miracle that these films got a release in the first place; the chances of it happening again in the current major label climate are exceedingly remote.

Also, (surprise!) even more MGM OOP, including Burnt Offerings, Day of the Outlaw, and Story of Adele H.

Apart from seconding zedz's recommendation for the Budd Boetticher set, I'd like to voice my support for Day of the Outlaw, a film that would feature high on my list of treasured westerns. Surprisingly gritty, with the great Robert Ryan starting off as the antagonist. The early-on scene that instantly transforms him to protagonist has to be one of my favourites.

A Hard Day's Night (Alliance)
Seems to be only available for retail at Future Shop (only ships to Canada).
Perhaps a re-issue, along with a Help! blu-ray is on the way.

Yep. I knew that when I bought it a few months ago. The PQ is ok and the audio is very good.

I've read great reviews of the audio online, but my dad's friend, who saw the film in theaters upon initial release, says the audio is terrible. Could it be surround throwing people off?

Possibly. I'm sure he has very vivid memories of seeing it upon initial release and anything different than that experience is not acceptable. It's understandable. We all have our preferences.
It's amazing how fast the online stock of it dried up. Amazon Marketplace had a few copies going for 2 bills and they've sold. The lone seller wants $999.99!

Body Double
Monty Python's And Now for Something Completely Different
Some Like It Hot (blu)
Man of the West
Look Back in Anger
Smile
Interiors
Heaven's Gate
Prick Up Your Ears
Dances with Wolves (blu)
Talking Heads: Stop Making Sense
Work of Director Chris Cunningham
Work of Director Michel Gondry
Work of Director Spike Jonze
Work of Director Anton Corbijn
Work of Director Jonathan Glazer
Work of Director Mark Romanek
Work of Director Stephane Sednaoui
Frankenstein: The Legacy Collection
Christmas Carol (blu) VCI
Too bad that Palm is discontinuing those director sets. They were a great idea. Maybe Criterion or another label like Shout could work out a deal for the rights. I wouldn't mind seeing updated versions on blu with added commercials, short films, music videos, etc.
I'm also shocked MGM discontinued the blu of Some Like it Hot. It just came out last year! I think the film is available in the big Marilyn box that FOX just put out. Maybe they intend for it to be a box set exclusive now or something. Meh.

Are they discontinuing both the Blu-Ray and the DVD of Stop Making Sense?

Could Man of the West's extinction be a sign of a Criterion blu?

The Misfits supposedly went out of print just weeks after it came out, and it's now also available in the Marilyn box set. A lot of retailers, however, including Amazon, are still selling it, so either it's still in print or MGM/Fox just produced a massive stock.

Maybe. It's probably the usual situation of Fox simply not re-pressing these as stock runs out. There was, however, some speculation that Criterion may have nabbed another batch of MGM titles.
Man of the West,
Smile,
Prick Up Your Ears, and
Look Back in Anger would all make perfect sense, as would other recent OOP titles like
Exodus and
The Miracle Worker.

I suspect that the film might just be transitioning from Miramax to Janus. Miramax has been letting the rights to the foreign language films expire. Hence; Purple Noon, Belle Du Jour, 3 Colors Trilogy and Sonatine as recent examples of former Miramax titles now under the Janus banner. It would be odd for Criterion to lose Chungking Express considering they just announced a Qatsi film licensed from Miramax in the last week. It would be nice if Criterion would comment either way about the future of Chungking Express in the collection.
