Disagree, though I did like the speech.
Hey, you can't tell me whether I'm melting or not!

Nah. It's just gonna be a way to spread the wealth among Lonergan, Jenkins and Chazelle.

Would still be OK with a Jenkins/La La Land split or vice versa

Good on Chazelle. Not a perfect film, but incredible audacity and vision. So happy! Also it was sweet that the first one on his feet to cheer was his pal Barry Jenkins

Is he French? I mean, by passport, by Father's side.

I'll pretend that's for Whiplash and feel mighty good about it. Nice guy, too. Cool socks.

We are about to see the poker face of the night if Affleck wins

I agree. Those two will hopefully be given lots of industry support to make the films they desire going forward.

I don't know what Jenkins is working on next, but I'm really curious about Chazelle moving outside of what he's known for with his Neil Armstrong bio pic.

Just having the same thought; hopefully I'll have the opportunity to think something similar about Jenkins and Villeneuve at some point.

Wanna see the Viggo Mortensen-starring biopic of Klaus Kinski

Hooray for Casey. Well-deserved, the actual best performance of the year.

Affleck gave the best performance I've seen in a long time. So proud of the Academy here

This is the idea that can bring us together.

Man, does that clip ever make me never want to see Florence Foster Jenkins.

And damn right Emma Stone. Utterly radiant performance

Dreadful. Oh, and Huppert forever. No particular offense to Stone's performance but I'm guessing a lot of voters didn't bother to watch Elle - that was the year's finest acting work across genders/categories

Tragic that Stone's third of fourth best performance between the nominees and whatever Meryl Streep was doing is victorious.

Oscars two-for-two in the lead acting performances tonight. I'm not going to look it up now but I wonder when the last time that happened was.

You're probably right, but I saw Elle and I'd have still voted for Stone without second thought or regret.

Hooray for La La Land! Great Oscars overall, worthy winner, same grouchy bellyachers as always here (though of course I think everyone was okay with Spotlight winning last year)
