The Touch have most the time since the 70's been realy hard to get even a decent screeningcopy of, in the US i know Elliot Gould has a personal copy wich have been screened a few times over the years.

But the Swedish Film Institute have recently restored the movie and in it's original swedish version (with the swedes not talking english to each other), it premiered last year on the ingmar bergman week on fårö and was screensd about a week ago on swedens bigest film festival (Göteborg International Film Festival), where i saw it. it looked pretty so we can hope a dvd-release will be comming in the future. You can find it on VHS in the all english-language version. i've seen that version to and i remeber it a little different from the newly restored version, the soundtrack ofcoarse but also a bit shorter, wich suited the movie better i think.

Interesting... I didn't know they even filmed such a version. Considering many people, including Gould, have complained about the way the Swedes spoke in English, this could be a much needed improvement.

I believe THE TOUCH was at partly financed by ABC and distributed stateside by ABC/Cinerama Releasing. It could therefore be a Disney property, at least in R1.

That's odd--Tartan has already released Philibert's Back to Normandy and I, Pierre Riviere... on DVD in the UK.

True, but then they folded (sadly). The rights would have been up for grabs.

A substantial chunk of Artificial Eye's upcoming slate was sourced from the Tartan back catalogue.

I don't think this has been mentioned elsewhere, but Artificial Eye are releasing Otar Iosseliani's Gardens in Autumn on 27th April 2009.

And amazon.co.uk gives April 6th as the release date of Tarr's Man from London

I wouldn't hesitate to buy the new AE Happy Together, seeing as it's 50% off on Amazon UK right now (even less with VAT removed), and that the image quality in motion is every bit as great as the Beaver caps would suggest (even the old remastered Kino, which didn't look so terrible to my eyes way back when, looks like dung in comparison). I could see waiting for a release on Blu, but seeing as the Kino adds only a 45 minute MoMI interview with WKW (who I must confess is one of my least favourite interview subjects) and a stills gallery, I see no reason to wait.

Are there any news on this one? Amazon says 29th of January, but that's long gone now, too, and nothing happened.

Just received The Wind Will Carry Us, and am very pleased to find that it's a complete replica of the mk2 release (with two 50 & 90 min documentaries on the second disc). A bargain at £9! Also, judging from a quick check on my laptop, the anamorphic transfer of Chocolat looks excellent (I plan to watch the whole thing tonight).

I was on the fence about the Kiarostami, since all specs seemed to indicate a barebones disc, but now its *mine*.

According to dvdtimes, "Waltz With Bashir" will have much more extras on the Blu Ray? I'm not liking that the 70 minute making of not being included on the DVD

We haven't much seen it yet, but blu-ray's much larger capacity should result in more content on those discs.

I'm really looking forward to this one. Do we know whether AE's blu-ray will be all-region? Will there be an alternate Reg-A blu-ray?

"Waltz with Bashir" Blu-ray is now released, but still no indication whether it's all-region. Hopefully, we'll see a review from DVD TIMES, the Beaver, or one of the better blu-ray sites soon. Have any UK forum members picked this up?

Can't vouch for the disc, but the box definitely says Region ABC - I had a look in HMV this lunchtime.

Of course, there's every possibility (probability, I'd say) that the documentary is in SD PAL, but at least the main feature should play in any Blu-ray player.

Has anyone had any luck finding any solid information yet regarding AE's forthcoming Bela Tarr Collection in regard to whether they have remastered Werckmeister and Damnation? I emailed the company twice; first to the contact address on their website - only to receive a reply that said recipient no longer works for the company, but they did have an alternative address to put forward any queries; and the second, to that alternative address, for which i've had bugger all response. I'm assuming they will be fresh prints much like their Wong Kar Wai set, though I can't help having this feeling that AE have this uncanny ability to raise me to seventh heaven one month only to pull the rug from under my feet the next.

Any information will be enormously (and quite possibly, amorously) appreciated.

Id say yes because they rerelease the movies separately...
