Edit: Out of interest Finch, what did you dislike about the Duel 4K which has a 4.75/5 review for PQ on Blu-Ray.com?
The BR.com review should be ignored as the reviewer is totally oblivious to the DNR and re-graining that Universal did. I’ve seen the film in motion and found it borderline unwatchable and even more jarring than the Cameron remasters because of the inconsistency in noise reduction and also grading changes that can vary from shot to shot. Here are screenshots (not mine): https://forum.blu-ray.com/showpost.php? ... tcount=788

Does Universal retain the rights to it? I’d love to see it in HD

I’m still amazed that Something Evil, his Duel follow-up, has never had any kind of home video release. It’s not very good, but I’m sure Kino’s fans would eat it up

I seem to remember the Kino insider saying it wasn't available for release.

The implication was that Spielberg won't allow it to be released. I'm not sure why he'd feel that way about Amblin', but I suspect if he wanted it out there it already would be.

Universal is releasing Sugarland Express on 4K next month. The kicker is that they are only producing 1000 copies. At this point, why not just license it to a boutique label?

Some might say they’re taking The Sugarland Express.

It appears the UK version is limited to 1000 copies, but I've not seen any indication that that is the case with the US disc.

After Sugarland Express, the other big 4k restoration from Universal is The Wiz.
4k restoration from the OCN, and a new Dolby Atmos mix, approved by the produced and sourced from the audio original separated stems.
(Info given by Cassandra Moore at the International Classic Film Market)

This one is especially exciting, as the ancient Blu (released seventeen years ago! ) has one of the ugliest transfers in my collection, so this will be a substantive upgrade. Elizabeth Banks deserves the best...!

Is it wrong that my first impulse is to check if Gary Included this shot in his review of the BD? I though he might be slipping, as it is notably absent, but then I saw it was reviewed by his cohort. Balance has been restored.

Strange... Universal is putting out four (seemingly) random films with Claudette Colbert on blu-ray:

I Met Him in Paris
Maid of Salem
Zaza
Skylark

Haven’t seen the other three but I Met Him in Paris, while just an average movie on the whole, has what is still for me the greatest line(s) of dialogue I’ve ever heard. It’s actually somewhat infuriating that the rest of it doesn’t live up to it!

Curious about Skylark and Zaza, if anyone can recommend

Double or Nothing
Here Come the Waves
Sing You Sinners

These lesser Crosby films are the kind of thing Universal used to put in a set for $30. Now they're $22 apiece?

Gambling Ship! I've been waiting for a decent quality version to turn up for ages - an early Cary Grant film, based on a Dashiell Hammett story.
