So are we going by Mr Sausage's suggestion in the Les Blank thread to spend three weeks on that set (one week per disc)? Since it's a rather packed set and we will be reviewing it over the holidays, the extra time may be appreciated by some people (I know I'd like it)

Nope. Just regular discussion. Talk about any film you want in any order you want.
I may end up extending it if needed, although there's little point considering discussion can continue in the regular dedicated thread once the round is over.

Here's a list of titles that have been randomly generated from all those in the collection. Vote for them.

Just so you guys are aware, if this ends up a tie, Vagabond is going to win because I voted for The Red Shoes, and the procedure for a tie involves me withdrawing my vote at the last moment.
Those of you who voted for the Kurosawa or the Renoir ought to consider changing your vote to one of the titles that actually has a chance.

I voted for Vagabond, because I don't think The Red Shoes has ever really lacked discussion, and the Varda is a great film that tends to get overlooked.

Did you mean Bergman instead of Renoir? Because the Ren has a fighting chance considering it's tied for first right now

I did, yeah. One would hope so, else I have an appalling inability to count.

It was a tie, so I withdrew my vote from The River (which I had changed my vote to last night) and added it to our winner, Vagabond.

Maybe I will finally get around to watching Vagabond (which has been awaiting watching for at least two years).

I voted for the Decameron because I picked up the Pasolini set during the last BN sale on a whim and it'd give me an excuse to watch it. But I also recently revisited the 39 Steps, so it's fresh enough in my mind that I could actually participate in a discussion

The Decameron was an easy pick for me too, for any number of reasons, not the least of which is that it's easily the funniest and most fun to watch Pasolini film I've seen. Not necessarily what you'd expect from the guy who made The Gospel According to Matthew, Salo or even the other two later films in this thematic Trilogy of Life.

I'm going with The Decameron as well. I'm a big Pasolini fan, but this is one of my least favourite of his features, so I could learn something from a dedicated discussion.

Ditto. If only MoC and BFI releases could be in the discussion pool.

BFI did release it.

I meant that I'd rather be discussing Medea or Teorema!

Hawks and Sparrows would also be nice though I suppose redundant with the concurrent faith project.

How much, if at all, are the Zatoichi films dependent on watching them in chronological order? I need an excuse to get around to the set, so I voted for that.

None for the most part. he first few have a lose continuity that is basically dropped after, I think, five.

Ah apologies! Yes, I'm not sure how I'll feel about this film. As much as I love the immediate post-war Italian films, the color films and the 70s era hasn't hit me the same way. Happy to give it another shot, but not sure it'll do much for me.
But then again, if I can use film club to discuss films that I can't get the appeal of at all, that can only be a good thing.

I really enjoyed Decameron when I saw it in the theater six or so years ago, hopefully I'll be able to make time to revisit it.

And it's The Decameron by a wide margin in what was a surprisingly popular vote this time around.
