Like most things in life, this can be fixed by adding a Baggu #Baggu2020 #MakeAmericaBagguAgain
Indeed I did. Baggu saves the day as well as the free shipping.

His Girl Friday is the only title I really wanted without waiting until July, but Shipping was going to be $7 to Los Angeles, so I figured to add a couple of items to get the free shipping.

since his girl friday is a $50 msrp, I figured that the most efficient way to hit free shipping (minimum $50) was by adding one of the children's films (Red Balloon for me) with a $15 MSRP and also adding a regular $40 MSRP title.

That gets me a final sale price of $52.41

Incredibly disappointed I missed out on it. I had been wanting it for awhile but thought I'd wait for the sale.

Fanny and Alexander and just about any single blu brings you to...49.94. Is the baggu worth it or is it just fun to say the word baggu (Raggu...gooey gooey glue sticks)?? Is there a $5 bobble-head?

All the Baggu jokes aside, its an alright bag (I got one for free during that one Flash Sale). It folds up on itself for easy carrying and does the job nicely.

I prefer the Criterion Tote bags though- as they're very sturdy and easier for shopping (Rather than re-folding your BAGGU).

Other cheap things you can buy:

Janus / Criterion mug
pack of 5 empty blu-ray cases
House shirt
Jellyfish Eyes poster

@Knives - Did SD not have a bag ban before November? (I think you're in SD if I remember correct). I'm near the county line with LA, so alot of my shopping was already in reusable bag territory.

Nope we didn't. San Diego is always a few degrees right on these things.

True. Guess its the military bases. Ventura has been going steadily left in the past ten years - but tends to be conservative on all manners of taxes (barely rejecting the tax to fund road improvements for probably the 5th attempt - though the main argument against it was to preserve rural density/open space - its an interesting county).

Best use of having to pay for a bag: A few years ago in LA, I was 10 cents short of a $5 off $50 at Barnes & Noble - so buying a bag somehow worked for that coupon!

So, uhh, in Flash Sale news: I'm happy to report that I was able to buy everything I wanted before it sold out (a first for me). I even snagged two copies of His Girl Friday, so take that fellow latecomers!

What else is everyone buying?

Actually the military folk tend to be the more left friendly people in the county. The majority is basically working class Orange County with La Jolla being wholly Nixonian still. If it weren't for Oceanside and the coastal parts south of the eight we'd fit right in with Arizona. It doesn't help that nearly everyone under 30 is moving because the housing crisis is so bad that it is literally illegal (were paying a lot of money to not build houses). With taxes we're almost comically defiant (not helped by SANDAG being a bunch of
incompetent asses). I think the weed tax is the first we've voted for in about a decade.

As to the sale I too am happy getting everything I wanted with The Dekalog basically being free thanks to one of those $50 codes.

I picked up some boxed sets I've been eyeing for years, Monterey Pop and Golden Age of Television. I kind of wanted Seven Samurai and the Alexander Korda Eclipse set but I'm trying not to blow all of my tax return in one go, plus I have a huge kevyip as it is...

Punch-Drunk Love
All That Jazz
Dekalog

I was just going to get a small handful of selections because the b&n sale will be 55% off with member bonus, but then I realized that there's no tax for this sale. And, as an added bonus, the $50 gift certificates... Hell, now I'm wishing I'd taken it even further.

That said, I picked up a large swath of my "high priority" wishlist this time around.

Black Girl
The Killing
Marketa Lazarová
The American Friend
Roma
Identification of a Woman
Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown
World on a Wire
The Bitter Tears of Petra von Kant
The Complete Jean Vigo
Watership Down
The Before Trilogy
Fox and His Friends
Eclipse Series 31: Three Popular Films by Jean-Pierre Gorin
Eclipse Series 34: Jean Grémillon During the Occupation
Eclipse Series 36: Three Wicked Melodramas from Gainsborough Pictures

And, then, due to additional prior purchases, I got the $50 bonus I didn't know about and got these:
3 Films by Roberto Rossellini Starring Ingrid Bergman
Something Wild (Garfein)

Finally, I couldn't help myself later in the day when I saw "La notte" in the "selling fast" category (which, funny enough, stayed there pretty much until the end) and picked up these too:
The Merchant of Four Seasons
Le amiche
La notte

Been a while since I posted here (>8 years). Glad to see "kevyip" is still a thing.

Here's what I got this time around:

BLACK GIRL
WOMEN ON THE VERGE OF A NERVOUS BREAKDOWN
CAMERAPERSON
HEART OF A DOG
DEKALOG
FOX AND HIS FRIENDS
PUNCH-DRUNK LOVE
THE NEW WORLD

Picked up these three that have been on my list to pick up for a long time... too long.
LE HAVRE
¡ALAMBRISTA!
ANTICHRIST

I grew impatient for a blu-ray release so I went ahead and picked this one up too.
LETTERS FROM FONTAINHAS: THREE FILMS BY PEDRO COSTA

Close to another $50 but I hit my limit =; so come Fall I'll pick-up more! \:D/

There will never be a BD release of Letters from Fontainhas as two of the films were shot on SD video.

That didn't stop them from releasing Hoop Dreams on BD.
