Apparently the copy Universal had bit it in the fire a few years back and Shout was only able to acquire this by outsourcing to a fan.

To my surprise, Q: The Winged Serpent Blu-ray is region-free. Are there other region-free discs from the company?

I've never bought a title from Scream Factory before but The House That Screamed will certainly change that, provided they can get the Australian VHS cut in the proper aspect ratio.
Dead Ringers and Carrie are also very enticing, seeing as Arrow are unlikely to get them any time soon.

I really hope, now that they're putting out all these Morgan Creek titles, a new edition of True Romance isn't far off. The WB Blu-ray was one of the first ever released and has lukewarm AV quality.

Why is it unlikely Arrow gets Carrie?

They've repeatedly said (even after the Scream announcement) that they've been turned down by MGM.

Got it. Have they given any word whether The Thing is in the same boat?

It's still amusing to me that Ben, the friendship with a killer rat movie (and very much the Curse of the Cat People of its series), has its
title song sung by Michael Jackson! (spoilers for the final scene of the film).

Does the Arrow have the same? I know it had a "more" listed but haven't kept up on it.

At the time of announcement, Arrow said that they'd tried to get the re-cut but were unsuccessful. Seeing as Scream have delayed their release twice now before this announcement, something may have changed in the meantime though.

Great story. I'm not a huge fan of
Cain even though I love De Palma, but this is tempting me to get this to revisit it again, and especially see if the DC improves the film significantly.

Excited to see Poltergeist 3 finally getting a Blu release - The director Gary Sherman was one of my teachers in film school and it's full of really fantastic practical effects and camera tricks. I just got a note back from him that he's involved in the release so that's a definite buy for me.

The Raising Cain recut is still up on Vimeo and it really does change the film for the better. It's far more DePalma in this version - which is just a big reordering of the scenes (Starts out as Jenny's story with Carter just as a minor figure until a certain point, then a huge flashback of all he was up to, theatrical version is straight chronological)

It's been out on Blu-Ray for years from MGM...

Looks like it came out in Region B in 2013 and about a year ago in Region A - I haven't kept up closely with catalog the last year and a half so it definitely just slipped my radar. At this point I'll just wait for the loaded one, but thanks for the heads up

Unbelievably, no, we won't
Scream Factory wrote:This is the PG-13 cut of the film that was theatrically-released and the only version that we had access to.
As it had been mentioned already from some fans, there were a few scenes that were altered or excised prior to its theatrical release but that somehow apparently showed up afterwards on early VHS releases. We investigated but could not locate this footage. Even if we could, we wouldn’t have been able to exploit them for legal reasons.
Sorry we tried, but the better news is that we have a new 2K film transfer and lots of extras cooked up. So if you’re a fan of the film, we think you’ll be quite pleased.
