Well, there goes that theory. And yes, they should have.

Since the Twilight Time "team" did a commentary for the film, I'd be pretty surprised if the noir elements were completely lost on them (especially since Kirgo has also contributed to books on film noir). And so consequently I'm sure it influenced the choice of cover they've gone with.

Why didn't they use that as the cover for The Other? It genuinely unnerving.

When you pre-order from TT, is your card charged then or on dispatch?

On dispatch (though they will briefly hold the funds after you complete your order). If you use PayPal, they charge straight away.

Just a heads up for you guys that might have missed out on the sold out TT release of Journey to the Centre of the Earth (1959).
Shock releases a port here in Australia tomorrow complete with DTS-HD MA 4.0 audio & an isolated score in DTS-HD MA 2.0. At 13USD or 8GBP + shipping, it's quite a steal.

Wow. Well, at least it's still better than the Sony cover:
A few Oliver! copies have been autographed (though I forget by who) so those interested or on the fence may want to wait to try and bag a free copy (they'll probably go up with the following months pre-orders).

Jan/Feb releases, including the first MGM titles, 9 total.
Some of you should probably brace yourselves before clicking.

Well, no one but no one will release
The Eddy Duchin Story on blu aside from these film score nerds, so I, for one, am grateful, even if I can't afford my gratitude enough to buy a copy. I recommend the movie to the more solvent among us, however. It's a great biopic melodrama with a moving finish. Will be a good candidate for an isolated score, assuming TT goes that route. Or better yet, the inclusion of Al Lerner's
soundtrack tribute, if they could somehow get the rights to that. Also, for those morally opposed to purchasing a TT edition, there is still
the pressed DVD available, which I recall looks pretty damn good.

I think Second Sight in the UK are bringing out Thunderbolt & Lightfoot so that'll be cheaper.
Crimes and Misdemeanors is a must buy, but worryingly signals that MGM has given up on their Woody Allen blus after just four releases.

Woody and TT. I guess he hasn't been selling well enough for MGM to release on their own. I will consider paying their price if they have some supplements.

I just wish Criterion had gotten Crimes and Misdemeanors. They did the laserdisc, but who knows, maybe they passed on it this time. Truly a disturbing trend when the studios so easily part with the best films of such a popular director. As if three thousand copies of this title is the most anyone hope to sell.

Woody Allen strictly forbids supplements on DVDs/Blu-rays of his classic films other than the trailer.

Yeah. I'm just holding out a slim ray of hope. Although, maybe Woody would let them do some kind of musical supplement besides the isolation scores the TT does.

Wouldn't be amazing if somehow TT pulled off including the hour+ of excised/alternate footage from Crimes and Misdemeanors? I mean, it's not happening, but it would be absolutely fascinating to see all of that.
An isolated music track would (will?) be strange as it's all needle dropping of existing music that would fade/dial in and out. All of the music in this film is great, but the track would consist of a lot of excerpts and edits.

Let's hope the Allen movies get released in the UK.
I'm not paying 30$ for any single movie, ever.
