I found that in my searching as well, and was excited at first, but it isn't it - it's missing the song plus the animation was a lot more fluid. It really seemed like it should have been something in Yellow Submarine, but I know that isn't it either. It seems as though searching for 60s bands that put one of their songs to some weird animation would bring forth a solution - but it doesn't seem to be that simple. Not even
Bonzo Dog Band did anything like this.
For those interested in searching, i'll save you the page click:
I remember staying at a hotel about ten years ago and on television (may have been cartoon network, not sure), there was some weird animation and song that I am currently unable to track down.
All I can remember is that it was similar in style to Yellow Submarine or most other 60s animation. Adding to that - there was a large number of aliens on the moon or wherever singing some song - repeating the line "he was a spaceman, spaceman" (the second spaceman lyric was sung solo by some large green alien - in a burp voice). The song sounds like it should have been something by the Beatles or Byrds (no it wasn't Mr Spaceman to the best of my knowledge) - but I can't track it down. Any help?
Yeah, sorry for my obscure memories of the event.

Anyone know what this is from?
I was trying to find more information on Leo Price (Lloyd's brother) and this turned up as an image on a broken video link for a Leo Price song
Hey Now Baby (an odd rock/r&b shuffle from 1961).

It's a painting made by an artist called
"Shag". (Thanks to Google image search!)
Shagalicious!

Forgot about image search. Thanks.
I thought it was some animation since it came up as a still for a video.
Maybe the song plays as the painting just sits there.
That's oddly fairly common on Youtube (at least for old songs).
Or alternately there's no relation to the song.
Well, Shag has a fun retro-groove thang going on and has nicely color-coded his illustrated zodiac.

When I was 10 or 11 on Memorial Day weekend I remember my Dad watching a black and white WWII movie (on AMC back in the good times) that I have not been able to identify since. All I remember is that it was probably made before 1960, and had the following scene: a US soldier brazenly drives a truck through a mine field, to the cheers of his company, only to step out of the truck and onto a landmine. Any ideas?

I've a feeling that's Budd Boetticher's Red Ball Express.

Seems to fit, but alas, no video release for me to check it out. Thanks for the feedback, though!
EDIT: There does appear to be a youtube video of it, though. I'll check it out tonight.

The
whole film's on YouTube, though. It does have a scene a lot like that starting around 53:00.

Yeah, I found that as well. That scene is totally it. A 20 year mystery solved. Thanks to you both!

I am trying to find a movie for my father based on his description of a single scene. I hope you can help me. He's been trying to find this movie for years.
The scene is: the female lead is standing in a school hallway with coathooks lining either side. As she stands there, her bag comes sliding down the hallway towards her as we overhear (unseen) students in the classrooms reciting the 17 multiplication tables.
The only other thing he remembers is that the movie was black-and-white. He thought the movie was Farenheit 451, but the 1966 version does not contain the scene described above.
Please help! Thank you so much!

Okay, so it's been a month since you posted that JenJay, but that is most definitely Fahrenheit 451. The film, of course, is not black-and-white (perhaps your dad watched it on a B&W TV?), but there is a scene in which Julie Christie goes to the school from which she has been fired to retrieve her things. A teacher slides the bag down the hall, and it seems to eerily float toward her. The whole time, the unseen school children are reciting their multiplication tables.

Probably not related to the above, but I was reminded of seeing a 35mm screening of
Fahrenheit 451in Bucharest a few moths ago, I was looking forward to the Nic Roeg photography and was surprised when the film started out in black and white. I had not seen the film in over a decade, so at first I thought maybe I had forgotten the opening was in B&W, but it remained in B&W throughout.
My guess is - as this is not exactly the type of film a communist country would be too pleased to be screening - it is some kind of high level illegal copy made during communism. One would also assume that B&W film stock was much easier and cheaper than colour to get back then. Also (and I'm sure the eastern European experts here could say for sure) another guess is this was common practice back then to illegally copy Hollywood or non communist country films?

I don't know about black and white bootlegs specifically, but I do know from the Golden Sixties documentary series and various interviews with Tarkovsky et al. that prints of 'unavailable' western films were held by and screened at film schools in communist countries during the 60s. I seem to recall one of the Czech filmmakers claiming that the main reason he applied to film school was so he could get to see all those great films he'd heard about. So anyway, it would have presumably been a simple - though nonetheless dangerous - matter to dupe one of those prints, since the film school would have had access to the appropriate lab facilities as well.

This is a tad silly, but what's the name of that one crime film based on a true story where they changed it so that the main guy became a snitch and he nearly got lynched in prison after the movie got popular.

Dog Day Afternoon, I'm pretty sure.

I thought that too when I was watching it last night, but nothing on the Internet suggests that. I'm sure its from around that same era though.

Don't always trust everything on Wikipedia, obviously, but this is from the page on John Wojtowicz:
In addition, the movie intimated that John 'sold out' Sal Naturile to the police, and although he claims this to be untrue, several attempts were made on John's life following an inmate screening of the movie.
