Ha! I've got one of those framed on my wall. Nobody should cut it! On the other hand, a careful xerox... Well, you get the idea. You could easily make your own.

Warren, was yours original or did you buy it second hand? I'm just a little curious since the auction site is scant on details other than saying that its from the "80s". It's clearly from post-'86 since it mentions Blue Velvet.

I'm fairly certain it is original. It has the same coloration (though maybe less saturated than your capture) and looks about that old. If I recall correctly I got it through one of the more legit poster dealers in NYC or London.

Oh. I suppose that I phrased that poorly. I actually wanted to know whether you were at the showing where they gave them away. I guess that the answer must be 'no'.

Is there any word on exchanging the defective blu-ray Eraserhead with a corrected disc? Per the Lynch website I emailed Mulvaney requesting such but have received no answer - not that the Lynch website constitiutes any official word from Criterion.

Thought I'd answer my own question.
For those of you who purchased through Amazon, I just contacted Amazon and a new Eraserhead is being shipped to me with delivery tomorrow (October 15). I used the Chat feature on Help/Contact Us. When texted that a new copy was being sent, I emphasized that the first pressing discs were ALL defective and that the disc being sent should be second pressing or from a supply that was designated as a corrected copy. I was assured that the disc would be fine. Well, we'll see tomorrow and I'll post the results.

Yes, the previous post regarding this issue didn't actually include the full e-mail response from Criterion regarding the replacement issue, but here it is in all its glory.
Thank you for writing to us regarding your ERASERHEAD disc. As you may know, at about 65 minutes into the original camera negative, from which our new 4K master was created, there are 5 seconds of black where there should be a reaction shot of Jack Nance surrounded by fades to white.
We are aware of the missing picture and are preparing a corrected run of the Blu-ray disc and DVD Disc One (DVD Disc Two is not affected). When the replacement discs are available in a couple of weeks we'll send you the correct version.
Please mail your old version (disc only please, do not include packaging) to the address below and include a note of exchange with your preferred USPS shipping address.
The Criterion Collection
ATTN: ERASERHEAD
215 Park Ave South 5th Floor
New York, NY 10003
When we send the new disc, you will get an email with a $10 gift certificate code to use on a future purchase at criterion.com. Apologies for any inconvenience and thanks for your patience while we fix this unfortunate mistake.
Thanks for supporting Criterion!
Jon Mulvaney

I e-mailed Criterion about getting a replacement around a week ago, and haven't gotten any sort of response.

You can exchange/return any Amazon DVD/Blu-ray purchase for being defective within 30 days, FYI

A little interesting note...I got my copy of Eraserhead today thinking I've received the second printing, yet on the back cover it says "First printing 2014." It's not until I opened it and checked the disc did it say second printing. Might be confusing perhaps for some consumers wondering if they're getting the first or the second pressing.

I'll say it's confusing. I just returned earlier today the replacement copy Amazon sent me, based on the first printing text (in tiny letters) found on the back of the case, and deciding to hold on to the initial release defective disc for return to Criterion per Mulvaney's email. This seemed to indicate that an email would come from Criterion when the corrected disc was available.

The 1st Printing on the back is likely meant to simply indicate the year of the first printing not printing number, and so is never meant to change. Some book publishers use a similar style on copyright pages.
Criterion only wants the discs, not the package, for replacement anyway, so people will just have to open the things and check the disc.

Are there still people who haven't received their replacement disc yet? I received an email on October 15th with the $10.00 store credit, but no information on whether or not the replacement disc had been sent out. I've read some people have been receiving theirs. Just curious if others are still waiting.

I e-mailed on October 8th and have received nothing. No e-mails, nothing in the mail, nothing. So there definitely are still people. I just responded to the original e-mail to remind whomever is checking the Mulvaney account.

I sent Eraserhead, Summer Hours, and Walkabout back at the same time, but only received the Eraserhead replacement and store credit so far. I assume the brown blu-ray replacements are being sent out by a different intern, so they didn't all come back in the same package.

I just noticed that my copy of the second pressing came in a case that had a new UPC sticker over the original barcode. So maybe that's a way to tell which version you're getting without opening it.

I mailed my defective disc in on September 27th and have yet to receive a replacement. I got my store credit on the 15th.

Given their bi-annual Criterion sale has just begun, I'm wondering if anyone has tried buying Eraserhead from Barnes & Noble online recently, and if you received the corrected pressing?

I purchased ERASERHEAD from B&N on late monday/early Tuesday and received the second pressing packaging. Hopefully, B&N only has those in stock.

I don't think that's universally the case. Though as I said earlier, I believe you can tell that it's the second pressing if there's a new UPC sticker over the original barcode.

My UPC for ERASERHEAD is 1551 12571. Good or no - anybody?

Bought a copy at BN on Monday. Had the UPC sticker on the back cover and a second pressing disc inside. So, it does look like if you find a copy with the white sticker on the back, you're in the clear.
