“I think now is a very good time to chime in to confirm that we have licensed I, THE JURY (1953) for home video and will be releasing it later this year. It will be our first 4K release and our first 3-D release.

In regards to the 3-D presentation, the stereoscopic alignment/restoration will be will be performed by the 3-D Film Archive and will be exclusive to our release.

Nothing more on the release at this time, but details to follow in the coming months.”

From a purely "get as many 50s 3D films on 3D Blu-ray as possible" standpoint, this is most welcome.

I really wish the rights issues could get cleared up on The Glass Web, probably the best 50s 3D film that is unreleased.

I received my copy of the Little Rascals Complete Collection, and I'm rather delighted that it's a compact release; not just a collection of the six volumes (plus bonus disc) in a flimsy box. It's in a plastic case about the size of Film Movement's Alastair Sim and Their Finest Hours boxes, but clear plastic instead of blue - a real shelf saver, as its thinner than the first three volumes as individually released. The seven discs of the individual volumes have been reduced to five, plus the bonus disc.

Classicflix will be releasing a 4K UHD of Frank Capra's Meet John Doe, tentatively slated for an autumn release. They've also announced that their Little Rascals Centennial Collection will be increasing in price, which I suppose is a better fate than going out of print.

ALso, the following items are low in stock...

Another Man's Poison (Blu-ray, 1951) - Less than 200 units (will not be re-pressed)
The Complete Hal Roach Streamliners Collection, Volume 5 - Less than 100 units (will likely not be re-pressed)

Just five minutes into this, and it may win the “how did the Code possibly miss this” award

When Young asks if a soldier’s head is sore and needs a rub, he says, “Yeah, both of them” - she barely reacts to this, but exclaims, “Woah!” and backs away when he talks about wanting to kiss the lips of a woman.. Though then the film has the gall to have her repeat the double entendre that he wanted “both” heads rubbed before exiting the scene in a huff!

This just came in from CF. I'm ecstatic it's still happening in some form:

Meet John Doe 4K/UHD Canceled, Blu-ray Still On with April Street Date
Today we have made public the difficult decision to cancel the 4KUHD for Meet John Doe (1941). While this isn't something we even remotely anticipated, the extremely poor pre-sales for the release leaves us no alternative.

The Blu-ray and DVD releases of Doe are still on, but with a revised street date of April 30th. These releases will still be derived from our 4K restoration of the beloved Capra film, but 4KUHD produced discs are upwards of 3 to 4 times as expensive to produce as standard Blu-ray making our chances of recouping that extra cost from sales very slim.

All orders placed at ClassicFlix.com for the 4KUHD of Doe have been canceled. All those awaiting shipment of the Doe 4KUHD on an order with other titles purchased have had the Doe 4KUHD removed from the order and the remainder of the order shipped.

I wish they realized that 4K releases of old Hollywood films was a more difficult sell to their demographic some time after they released this disc, as I was anticipating it myself.

Maybe they simply do not have the cash flow to fund such a project without anticipated advanced sales?
