What porn classic and where can I purchase it?

Especially since the current edition is single-layered. They could pack a lot more extras onto a second layer without having to go to 2 DVDs. They must have A LOT of stuff for this one. What more can they put on Grey Gardens:
It's a shame - for a brief tantalising period last year, one-discers with commentary were happily reduced to $29.95. Then, came September, they bumped it back up once again.cgray wrote:Not necessarily. Pickpocket had a 39 MRSP and was a one-discer. I thought we had concluded that the presence of a commentary, and not the number of discs, was the deciding factor (though it seems that a 2-discer w/o commentary will always still be at least the $39 MSRP).cinephrenic wrote:Good to know that these are going to be 2-discers.
Bullshit. I don't care what else they put on this disc. I dished out $39.95 for this film, and now they're releasing the same thing, just with a few more extras. I respected the way Criterion used to protect (or protect) their customers, but now, if this is really a new edition, they're no worse than any other big studio.denti alligator wrote:Especially since the current edition is single-layered. I knew this would come up. But given the both film's reputations and inavailability might suggest this. Not necessarily. Pickpocket had a 39 MRSP and was a one-discer. This re-release sounds very much like a special favour to Albert Maysles - I can't imagine the original was in any way a big seller. Nevertheless, there are still lots of holes in the history of the Beales missing from both the film and supplements on the current DVD and while it is a peculiar choice of reissue I trust all involved have put together something pretty impressive and authoritative.gigimonagas wrote:Bullshit. I'm going to assume all they're doing is releasing their latest 400 Blows (from the set) on its own since it's more popular than the other titles. They probably listened to all the people who refuse to buy the set and decided there was more money in it if they just released it on its own.JusteLeblanc wrote:So if I have the Truffaut box set, am I supposed to buy yet another copy of 400 blows? This will now be my third. Criterion is beginning to really piss me off.
Yes! I have been waiting on this one for years!kappoka wrote:Elevator to the Gallows
SRP: $39.95
Yeah, but the less-than-scintillating outtakes set you back an extra $20. I could buy another whole movie for that.cdnchris wrote:The Monterey releases puzzle me, though. For about the price of the two you can get the whole set with the outtakes.
And unlike the Doinel set, Monterey Pop seemed to be a universally loved package. I've yet to hear anything along the lines of "Sweet deal, Jimi Hendrix AND Otis Redding!!! w00t!!! P.S. Fuck the Mamas and the Papas, Janis Joplin, Simon and Garfunkel, The Who, The Byrds, Ravi Shankar, and Tiny Tim. Poseurs."cdnchris wrote:

Okay, I'll give you that. I forgot it was $20 more.Narshty wrote:Yeah, but the less-than-scintillating outtakes set you back an extra $20. Well, I can imagine there's more than one old hippy who is still bitching cause he wasted good acid during the Shankar set.I've yet to hear anything along the lines of "Sweet deal, Jimi Hendrix AND Otis Redding!!! w00t!!! AM: In fact, we just looked through a lot of footage from Gray Gardens that wasn't in the film, and we pulled an hour-and-a-half of gems. Just fabulous stuff. There's a moment when Edie turns to us and says, "I had several boyfriends in the war. And they were all of course very physically fit and handsome, but some of them didn't come back. That's no way to fight a war. Wars should be fought by men who are physically disabled and then they won't hurt each other." All of that just popped up out of her head. It wasn't an answer to any question.
Sounds like it's going to be a good 'un! Of course, not owning the original disc of Grey Gardens, I would say that...Is Edie [from Grey Gardens] still alive?
No, she died about a year ago.
Had you kept in touch with her?
Oh yeah. She wrote lots of letters. She moved to Florida, so she kept up through correspondence and telephone calls. In fact, one of the phone calls is recorded, and it's on the DVD of Grey Gardens. Right now we're putting together a scrap book of Grey Gardens which will include a lot of letters and photographs. Also we've put together an hour and a half of outs from the film. Criterion is going to distribute it.
Sorry, but how exactly have they been hinting at these titles? We've speculated that these will be releases by Criterion based on information that is floating around that has lead us to claim they are definite possibilities, but as far as I know Criterion has never lead us to believe that the company will be releasing these titles with any degree of certainty. I have not seen these titles mentioned on the News section of their site or read any public statement by anyone associated to the Criterion Collection regarding the release of these titles.JusteLeblanc wrote:And what about more Godard. There's still a handful of titles they've been hinting at such as Pierrot and My Life to Live.
