You can reliably buy direct from Criterion at 50% off every February and October.

Understood. I'm aware of when major sales are. But sometimes I just want a film. Sometimes the sales come around and I don't have spare cash but I do in June or January. Etc. etc.

I wonder if I should go ahead and buy enough for a 2nd certificate. I only need 12 more discs!

Has anyone gotten a loyalty points code that bought a gift card during the pre-Christmas double points bonanza? I just hit the 500 threshold, but my account still says “47 to go!”

Arrow does double points. When has Criterion ever done this?

Around Christmas last year, you could buy gift cards and earn double their value in points.

Looks like they slipped me a gift certificate in between the two orders I put in. Noticed it too late though.
(Firefox crashed and burned just prior to finishing my first order, taking email with it. Then switched over to Opera to push both orders through.)

If you buy a Criterion.com gift certificate from now until the end of the year - you get double loyalty points on that gift certificate purchase. So its money you'll spend anyway in the future + you get an additional 10% back out of it (its about the same as a B&N 20% off coupon).
I promise this was a thing that happened. Just wondering if anyone has the same discrepancy I’m seeing. Still no sign of a gift certificate in my email.

That refers to
payment using gift certificates. So you’d only earn nine points on a $59.XX order you used a $50 loyalty point GC to help pay for. (As I just did!

Don't worry, you're not losing your marbles. I bought a $100 giftcard back when this promo was up in December, and the number of points I had increased by 200, but the "you still have X to go before a certificate" only went up by 100.
So I emailed Criterion and they said that they double checked my account and that the points are accurate, just ignore what the "you have X to go" says.
Usually the certificates arrives within minutes, but I'd suggest emailing them about it if it hasn't shown up yet and you've hit a next 500 threshold (they'll probably comp you something if you miss the sale due to the delay).
If it makes you feel better I'm probably going to be in the exact same boat - as I'm going to place an order soon, and only need 48points for my next Cert (despite it saying I need 148). So we'll see if the $50 arrives immediately for me or not.
===========================
I'm also really thankful Criterion have started stockpiling their newest titles at their warehouse. It looks like all the major new titles are still instock. This is a far cry from a couple years ago where everything new would be long gone by the time I could place an order (Don't Look Now was the most annoying case). Glad I can still pick up Rebecca + Barry Lyndon at this point.
Anyone buying random older releases?

Thanks, Minkin. No certificate yet. I shot the loyalty@criterion address an email at around 1:00, but have yet to hear back. Fingers crossed they get to it tomorrow morning before the sale ends.

Usually, yes, but Film struck has cut my purchasing by about two thirds and basically eliminated me buying any non upgraded random older release

Yep. Picked up just a shade over 50 releases. Some recent, but most random older ones. Didn't have a problem. At this point, I'm thinking of just finishing off the non-upgrade collection at this point (35 or so to go) since it's technically cheaper for me than a b&n sale.

If anyone is having the same problem that soundchaser and I had - you can have the issue fixed very quickly by emailing
[email protected]
I'm glad I got my first order in when I did - as Rebecca + Barry Lyndon are soldout now.
Also now might be your last chance to get
It's a Mad Mad Mad Mad World on Dual Format before the split editions show up on their site.
Edit
Actually you might still be able to get Barry Lyndon - the sale page says its sold out, but the actual
Criterion page doesn't say backordered.

Having the same issue here with the $50 gift certificate not registering. I had 59 points to go so I grabbed Rebecca, Barry Lyndon and FWWM -- last time I got the gift certificate it registered almost immediately and I was able to get another order in during a flash sale. This time, however, my account credits read "$0.00" and the loyalty points are back to "499 to go". I was thinking maybe they used the gift certificate on the $59 order I made, but nope, my card was charged.
Haven't received any response from Criterion after two emails (and a tweet!) Bummer, as I would like to use the $50 for a few other releases during the sale.
