He's a now longtime SNL cast member and has been in several very popular comedies over the last few years, so. Yes.

I didn't know Darkwing changed his motto to let's get serious.

According to this
quick news item about Image, looks like we're getting a Blu-Ray of "Brazil" sooner rather than later.

I don't know. Since most of the article is talking about titles already included in the Image/Criterion catalog, I think the word "upcoming" might only be modifying
Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. It sounds to me like they are just mentioning other prominent, existing Criterion titles as examples of the films included in the arrangement.

It certainly would fit with what Mulvaney mentioned in the
message I got, but even there, he spoke of the title as speculative. Still, fingers crossed.

It appears McCabe and Mrs. Miller is now out of print. It'd be nice to see Criterion snap that puppy up. I'm sure I'm late to the party on this one per usual...

In a thread on Facebook indicating that it will be announcing new titles next week, Criterion comments that "One is directed by Jean Cocteau..."

Beauty and the Beast blu?

My guess is Orpheus on Blu. I think it was Janus, where the other two were Studio Canal.

"Beauty and the Beast" is not Studio Canal. It's owned by Lopert Films.

I just meant the other two Orphic Trilogy titles. Beauty and the Beast is possible, but I suspect that they'd want to get the OOP title back in the game first. Also, it's the best Cocteau.

It almost seems like they are going back to the very beginning of the collection and redoing everything in Blu, that's why I included The Lady Vanishes in my predictions for next week. Out of the first 10 spine numbers, aside from the OOP titles, The Lady Vanishes, Beauty and the Beast and A Night to Remember are the only non-blu titles. Maybe that means the Picnic at Hanging Rock and Andrei Rublev updated editions aren't far away...

Orpheus on Blu probably.

Beauty and the Beast was the very first Do-over title, so it's got to be a high blu priority for 2011 like Lady Vanishes, High and Low and Salo.

Warner Bros. Fat chance.
Though going OOP suggests Warner may be getting ready to do a BD themselves.

Ah, right, I'm with you. Yes "Orpheus" or "Beauty and the Beast", I don't mind. Love them both.

So it's official? We've already given up hoping for films that haven't previously been released, like Les Parents terribles?

I dunno, I think we could see The Emigrants and The New Land released as big set this coming month. It's about time, been a year since everlasting moments. those have never had a disc release here.
It's a set that would require a lot of work. Like the Leopard you'd want to include both the English Language shortened versions as well as the longer international original language versions.
I can't wait for them to do a Hitchcock month, we should be getting Foreign Correspondent sometime soon, and that will probably go along with a bluray of Lady Vanishes.
I'm pretty happy with their 2011 schedule so far because it's included so many bluray upgrades.
I'm thinking Beauty and the Beast, Rushmore (or Tennenbaums) and Fists in the Pocket (or Le Samurai) are the catalogue upgrades for June.

Like to see more Truffaut released on blu-ray..'The Soft Skin", "Two English Girls" or "Confidentially Yours" which Criterion did release on laserdisc many years ago.

Expect The Soft Skin in a year or so when it is done touring.

I haven't given up hope. In fact, I was just about to mention that as a possibility, but we're getting used to Blu re-issues.
"Parents" would be great or "L'Aigle a Deux Tetes", perhaps.

Or rather, we've given up hope that they'll release films that haven't previously been released
and that were made before 2008 and aren't part of Criterion's IFC deal, like
Les Parents terribles.

Why so many pictures of De Palma's Sisters on Criterion's facebook?
