For what it’s worth, Criterion just published a
list on Letterboxd for the Bresson collection, and
Diary of a Country Priest is on there.

I was checking the newly added section this morning and I noticed that even though the press release says
Diary of a Country Priest was to be included in the Bresson retrospective, it is nowhere to be seen.
It's been added now.

Lots of great additions! Looking forward to watching the newly added Sembene titles, the Hitchcock titles, Gance's La Roue, and the 2 Berri titles.

Is there any way to tell which cut of The Grandmaster that is going to be?

Unless the Weinstein Company's rights, or, since they control that catalog, Lionsgate's rights have lapsed, I would assume it is the US cut.

Another exciting slate of titles for me. Alongside the Ken Russell series, I was actually recently thinking about getting into the films of Bertrand Tavernier, so the director spotlight that they are having on him should be an excellent primer. I've also been wanting to watch the 2 Enzo G. Castellari post-apocalyptic actions films set in NY.

I’m more excited about potentially seeing
The Cat (1991) in HD. If Criterion plays their cards right, it could become their next

Unfortunately I don’t think The Devils is going to be the director’s cut but the Ken Russell collection is going to be great even if it won’t have Crimes of Passion for whatever reason, since it’s leaving this month. Also of note, Mahler does open with the Criterion/Janus logo so fingers crossed that gets released soon time in the future. The Post-Apocalyptic and Sundance favorites look good. Also it’s very funny to me that they’re doing a cat collection given what I’m currently doing now.

Criterionsnob - Is the January lineup emailed to you by newsletter or do you find it on the Criterion site? I just joined the channel this month and getting the monthly lineups like this would be great for me.
Thanks!

I just noticed that That Darn Cat! is going to be added. Is this the first time that they licensed a film from the main Disney line for the Channel?

There’s also The Cat from Outer Space so it seems Criterion has been gifted streaming access to the lesser known live action Disney films based off these 2 being added.

I notice both of those are already available on Disney+ so it’s probably a case of Disney having a digital streaming file available and not feeling threatened by little ole Criterion Channel.

Also Disney is desperate to get some more money with their recent woes.

Nice to see Ken Russell getting a spotlight in this month's lineup, though I wish Tommy and Lisztomania were included. Curious to see how The Devils looks and if it portends an eventual release. I haven't seen this film since I watched a VHS copy many years ago. Apparently Criterion Channel screened it in 2019, but I missed it.

The entirety of the Hand Made Films library just added to the channel (18 films) open with Criterion and Janus logos.
As do the 14 Tavernier films.

I hope not this version because it appears to not be the complete version as the directors cut runs an hour and 51 minutes whereas this version runs an hour and 48.

The Lonely Passion Of Judith Hearne is the Hand Made film I am most interested in seeing, as it is difficult to find anywhere. I watched all of Clayton's films except that one in 2023.
