Surely you mean the director's cut that will come out after a protracted battle with the studio (after he goes $40 million over budget), who shelve the film for three years. Scott then sneaks a print out and screens it for Armond White who, in what will become one of his most acclaimed pieces of writing proclaims the greatest film and political statement ever made. Having seen the film and White's review, Steven Spielberg retires from the movie business altogether, calling his body work in comparison to Monopoly, "Worthless". The full cut is restored and includes the first ever cameo by someone who is dead. It's Henry Ford and Scott's team, using the little remnants of voice and visual footage available, construct a shockingly realistic digital version of him for a ten second appearance that includes a four word line of dialogue. The one shot costs $10 million dollars and employees the entire country of New Zealand. It is then re-released to to theaters in IMAX 3D and plays for eighteen months straight.

The studio then fast track a sequel of sorts, Monopoly Jr, directed by Brett Ratner, who directs Chris Tucker to his first two Academy awards: Best Actor and Best Screenwriter.

We have a whole string of posts full of "clever" potential board game adaptations and the directors that would be perfect and/or ironic for them, if you're into that sort of thing.

Ah, some good stuff back there earlier in the thread. Obviously this one strikes a chord with me:
Steven H wrote:Zach Snyder's Hungry Hungry Hippos. The hippos are all beefcake warriors with an insatiable lust for marbles... and freedom.

Is this really the best time to be making a movie based on a game that rewards the rapacious acquisition of real estate?

This would be the antithesis of a good time to do such a project.

I've read, and re-read the original book and I'm still not convinced by the claim that Baum orignally envisioned the Tin Man as a Munchkin. Once I see the little critter in action beheading wolves with his axe I'll be happy, but until then he just looks 'cute for commercial kid-appeal'.

Anyone have any original sketches of munchkin sized tin men?

Fox, trying to milk the cow until it dies and then serving it to the teen crowd, greenlights X-Men First Class.

If the buzz on Twilight is any indication, teens love their fantasy films wrapped up in soap opera dynamics. And Josh Schwartz is the Shakespeare for emo teens.

That project seems to have been riddled with problems since day one. First, Mark Romanek leaves the film causing a delay, and now the entire film is being bumped (again). It has trainwreck written all over it.

I wonder what percentage of Gilliam's income comes from Python royalties.
