I think the WB people Nolan had the biggest beef with (i.e. those who pushed for day-and-date streaming releases during COVID and shortened the theatrical window for Tenet) were all replaced by Zaslav.

I would have guessed there remained some skepticism on his part about the new regime, but I probably should at least give Zaslav the benefit of the doubt as far as reaching out and doing press with Spielberg, Scorsese and PTA. I’m just not a fan of literally anything else he’s done so far but I’ll concede the long game out of this could mean a new age in the industry.

I actually knew a guy who worked on this when I went for a brief stint in an acting school in New Mexico. Forgot his name and he probably just played a minor role behind the scenes but knowing what a sweet/earnest guy he was and how passionate he when he talked about it, it aches my heart to imagine 1000s of others like him that worked effortlessly on it realize it would never be. Fuck Warner.

Never in my life have I a seen a company shut down completed movies without any of them seeing the light of day. This is their 3rd or 4th film this year so far.
It has happened on very rare occasions. Paramount did it with a film they test screened called Young Lust around 1984, and 20th Century Fox did with Hung Up (1973), a French film that I believe didn’t even open in its native country. Lorimar did with Broken English in 1981

Had forgotten about Broken English, which had Oona O'neill and it's her only film credit.

Looks like they may decide to sell it to another studio after all, which would be good to all involved as test screening reactions suggests it's a decent film.

It sounds like they were already taking a write-down, not a write-off (even though a lot of sources conflated the two). They could always offset it with a write-up on a future filing.
