I predict Italian cinema this month- an upgrade to blu for Antonioni or Olmi or The Bicycle Thieves, or something new like Stromboli, Bitter Rice, or The Gospel According to St. Matthew

My prediction for the BN sale month (money making time!!!)-

Eraserhead
Mulholland Drive (surprise element)
[Hope all those shorts get equally distributed between the two]
The Devil's Backbone
The Bicycle Thieves (Blu upgrade)
Lord of the Flies (Blu upgrade)

We are not getting more than 5 titles a month for long now...so, I will stop predicting now :)

A user on Bluray.com compiled a list of Paramount titles now on Warner (though maybe this post belongs in "Criterion & Paramount"). It would appear THE ELEPHANT MAN is not an option though titles like NASHVILLE, DON'T LOOK NOW, PRETTY BABY, TARGETS, SECONDS, THE CONFORMIST, THE TENANT, and THE MIRACLE AT MORGAN'S CREEK are still in play. His list shows about 430 of the supposed 600+.

From Bluray.com:
I've compiled a list of titles that Warner Bros. now have the rights to, that they acquired from Paramount. The purpose of this was to get an idea of potential BD releases; titles that WB could potentially release if they choose to. It's interesting to note that Paramount didn't give up any Steven Spielberg films (it appears that they even kept the ones he produced, like Eagle Eye for instance).

This information was gathered from WBshop and Amazon, so bear with me if you notice any mistakes/errors. * denotes a BD release. Most were originally Paramount/DreamWorks, but are now WB. A few titles were previously released by Lionsgate on BD. I also noted the titles that are new to blu, courtesy of WB. FYI, there are 428 titles listed (now confirmed), of the 600+ that they acquired.

It would certainly ease the sting of Mill Creek's abominable Squid and the Whale blu-ray: piss-poor image quality and none of the supplements from Sony's original DVD.

There's been a flat out evidence of them having the rights and considering the BFI coming so close to release it is safe to assume they'll announce it soon too.

Devil's Backbone (hinted already)
The Wild One or The Wanderers (Badlands double clue)
MGM: The French Lieutenant's Woman (out on blu in FR) or Carnal Knowledge (Nichols) or Satyricon
Paramount: La Dolce Vita (if extras are ready) or Nashville
A Brighter Summer Day
Red Beard or The Hidden Fortress upgrade
Lord Of The Flies upgrade

More likely early Fall: Earaserhead, Tess (& The Tenant in same month? not likely to do 2 Polanski's only 1/2 mos. apart or?)

If Criterion had a stronger sense of commerical tie-ins with holiday impulse buys, you would think Eraserhead, The Tenant and/or Elephant Man (the one big IF for any Lynch relationship with Criterion is if they managed to snag the rights to Elephant Man from Paramount) could be released to time with Halloween! I do not consider them to be Halloween-oriented films only, of course, but they could be great October releases as they would potentially attract a wider viewing audience than if you released these films say, in August or April. Last year we had Rosemary's Baby and that was a tremendously successful release for October/Halloween (lots of good word of mouth and publicity about the timing on that helped boots sales). If the strong facebook rummor from Criterion is true that Devil's Backbone is getting its announcement today, then what are we left with for an October-Halloween-appropriate release? My guess is Eraserhead, a Polanski film, Scanners-The Brood (*Shivers*) or Elephant Man (IF Criterion managed to get it and frankly, I doubt it) are coming out in October.

Is La Dolce Vita really a possibility? I hope so but I've heard both sides are going to court in September.

This is the first time I've seen any speculation about Criterion doing 'Carnal Knowledge'. Have they ever hinted that they are working on it?

We might be getting The Life of Oharu, because when you go to Shoah's page at the bottom and click Spine #664 it takes you to a page that does not load but the address bar says The Life of Oharu in it.

Well, before johnnysnatchclub7's made his post, we didn't know the list of titles Warner licensed from Paramount. We only know certain ones they didn't get mentioned as being retained by Paramount in the press release (the franchise films such as The Godfather and Transformers, Spielberg films, etc.). As Medium Cool is coming out via Criterion in May and is licensed by Paramount, reason suggests that there may be other Paramount licensed Criterion releases in the future that were not part of the Warner deal. Obviously if Warner got it now per the list johnnysnatchclub7 shared it won't be licensed in any future deal.
