I think one big takeaway from this is to go back to having BP presented alone, as it usually has been (they announced Beatty beforehand, which is weird, because I always enjoyed predicting-the-presenter as a fun side-game to the regular Oscar pool). Will lead to just less general confusion (it won't happen ever again, anyway, but this seems like an easy step they'll take). I *love* the perfectness of it being Warren Beatty for having that weird Mayor-of-Hollywood, what-kooky-adventures-is-he-up-to-now vibe that makes the whole thing seem just a little bit more hilarious. I think it's an underrated part of this whole thing - if they got Tom Hanks or whomever and the same thing happened it might not have proceeded like it did but it'd be a lot less fun.
It'll be *really* interesting to see how much this impacts Moonlight's box office as it inevitably goes wide again this weekend. Though it's already out on BD/VOD the past few winners have been too and still jumped $5 million, and they didn't have the benefits of already being not very well seen, this crazy publicity of this being a major story all day today, or the almost out-of-nowhere surprise of it. I could honestly imagine it getting up to over $30 million, increasing its take almost 50%.

Jason Horowitz, everyone is going to want to work with him now. He's got a golden ticket for the next few years, what a display of calm and decisiveness and grace in chaos. Who wouldn't want to work with a producer like that?

Friend of mine just compared this to a Ryan Murphy show after reading this:
Apparently, Dunaway and Beatty had a bit of an argument during the show’s rehearsal on Saturday, with both of them fighting for the honor of reading the winner of Best Picture. This little feud between them was so vicious that they wouldn’t even walk onstage together, choosing instead to come out separately during the rehearsal, but Beatty eventually gave in and agreed to let Dunaway read the winner.
According to TMZ‘s narrative—which is probably more dramatic than what really happened—Beatty saw the wrong card in the envelope and hesitated, prompting Dunaway to reach for the card so he wouldn’t “jack the moment and read it himself.” Then she read it, announcing the wrong winner of Best Picture, and Beatty didn’t say anything because of this bad blood between them from the rehearsal.

The perfect punctuation to that unbearable bit. It was one of the best Oscar ceremonies in years, but I don't know what fascinates the Academy/Kimmel so much about treating the general public like a circus act during an awards show. Didn't last year feature those man on the street interviews with Chris Rock, too, where he asked if anyone had seen any of the movies? I will be thrilled when that kind of snarky condescension takes a hike from the Oscars for good.

My biggest takeaway from everything I've read in the last couple days is that the producers, directors, and stars of La La Land and Moonlight are better people than I'll ever be. Just consistent class and friendliness from both sides of this mess

Yes, but to be fair, this is how people are supposed to be. Maybe it's a hopeful sign that the film business is slowly being taken over by more civil and honorable individuals while those who give it a bad name are on their way out.
