I guess that answers the question of whether Eureka still have their Mizoguchi licenses in the UK

I'm not sure what Eureka had, but Criterion has released the following Blu-rays in the UK:
The Life of Oharu in 2017
Ugetsu in 2019
Sansho the Bailiff in 2020

Eureka had all the Daiei/Kadokawa licenses. Nick posted on here several times about how Oharu was off limits to them and he'd hoped Criterion would release it

forever grateful to my younger self for getting Late Mizoguchi, as it looks like the other five films Criterion hasn't touched aren't gonna see the light of day unfortunately. Street of Shame being tied to an eclipse box forever when it has a 4K restoration and a Tony Rayns commentary would be more tragic than any of Mizoguchi's movies...

I sold mine to a fellow member here a few years back, def biggest personal regret as far as home media decisions go

Midnight has been submitted to the BBFC, so I imagine that will be in the next batch of announcements - hopefully alongside things like Choose Me, Some Like it Hot, In the Heat of the Night, Killer of Sheep, or if we're really lucky, Sorcerer and/or Thief.

Meaning we won't be seeing Midnight from Indicator in the UK. Can hold on to my preorder of the US Criterion then.

Still no Barry Lyndon 4K? I wonder what the hold-up is with Warner Bros on that one...seems a bit weird, but then it is Kubrick and they seem a bit touchy with those.

Anyway, I'm happily pre-ordering the Edward Yang double-bill along with Sorcerer 4K. Midnight and Shoeshine 4K are tempting but I'll try and wait for a sale.

Great news about the Ray film, and sounds like there's about to be a number of Indian titles hitting our shores (at least two more from Second Run, plus The Cloud Door about to release their first title).

Traffic seems to have been submitted to the BBFC by Spirit Entertainment, implying Criterion will be releasing it here very soon. Hints of a 4K release, or is it just a port of the old 2012 disc? Happy to finally own it, I suppose, but was hoping it'd get a 4K upgrade at some point.

This officially quenches the hope that Second Sight upgrades their limited edition Walkabout. Glad I held on to it.

A shame as it might be one of Criterion's most garbage UHD encode, and very likely one of the most garbage encode I've ever seen.

Surely Umbrella is gonna come to the rescue with a fat brick edition, possibly graced by a FiM encode, unless some weird rights entanglement prevents this Australian film from being released in its home country?

Unfortunately, you would be a very expensive alternative, and I find most Australian releases like this to be overpriced. Obviously, I would have preferred Criterion to get their encode right instead, but I suppose you can't have it all.

Yes, they announced the UK release was cancelled the other day.

Sorcerer 4K delayed to October 6th, and other titles for that month are as follows:

Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me 4K - October 13th

Great news, up for all four (already have Sorcerer pre-ordered). Will only pre-order one other, most likely the Cronenberg at this point.

PS: I wonder if Second Sight still have the rights to Walkabout? Would seem odd for them to let it go as it was such a coup when they first got it, feel like they'd want to upgrade it to 4K themselves.

In addition to being in a standard scanavo, the UK release of Mishima booklet drops the photographs of Ishioka’s sets and reformatted the two essays (smaller font) which cut the booklet from 56-pages to 11.

Nightmare Alley's extended cut got submitted to the BBFC by Spirit, so that looks like a November release from Criterion.
