I think that titles that WB released on digibook have a higher probability for a Criterion release:
Bonnie and Clyde
How The West Was Won
One Flew Over The Cuckoos Next
Shawshank Redemption
Amadeus
The Right Stuff
Cabaret
The Killing Fields
Sorcerer
Deliverance
The Killing Fields
Hamlet
Who's Afraid Of Virginia Wolf
A Star Is Born
Citizen Kane
Dr. Strangelove
Full Metal Jacket
A Clockwork Orange
All The President's Men
Bladerunner
Rebel Without A Cause
The Color Purple
Empire Of The Sun
King Kong
A Streetcar Named Desire
Whatever Happened To Baby Jane?
Doctor Zhivago

WB held/are holding onto some of those, including EMPIRE OF THE SUN, which Criterion did have but WB recently pulled the license and are planning a 4K for 2027.
Honestly, STREETCAR 4K could just as easily come from Warner Archive.
DOCTOR ZHIVAGO 4K I definitely think is WAC.

I'm a little surprised that a licensor can (apparently) just 'pull' a license if the licensee hasn't done anything to breach their terms.
I'm holding out for a film I expected to come from Criterion if they ever a deal with Warner (aka 10-15 years ago now): Nicholas Ray's The Lusty Men. Would also not be surprised to see Criterion pick up Running On Empty, Prince of the City, Eastwood's Bird, Honkytonk Man, Some Came Running, An American in Paris, and the other two Tsui Hark films, The Lovers and Love in the Time of Twilight

Seconding the Tsui Hark films, The Blade was one of the most memorable discoveries I've made in a while.

I think licensors generally make it up to the licnesee when they take a title back.

Yeah, I'm surprised Criterion has never released a single Minnelli film, and only three by NIcholas Ray.

Multiple Peter Weir films held by WB seem like obvious candidates (The Year of Living Dangerously, The Mosquito Coast, Fearless)

I know there was a report that Criterion/Janus were credited on RAISE THE RED LANTERN when the 4K restoration premiered at the Shanghai Film Festival but in retrospect, it may have been a mixup as there is zero mention of Criterion or Janus on Film Movement's site.
https://filmmovement.com/raise-the-red-lantern
Though I'd far prefer Criterion releasing it over VinSyn (crazy how much the tables have turned!), everything we've seen so far indicates the latter.
Edit: Nicwood pointed out on the other forum that the report of Criterion being credited was correct.

Criterion has supposedly had Mosquito Coast and Year of Living Dangerously for several years now.

Considering three of the four new Eclipse sets are directed or co-credited to women, that does seem to be a contributing factor in this revival. What other multi film collections of female-directed movies do Janus/CC hold?

And Amazon has been selling the YOLD blu-ray for $8.99 for several years now & I've held off from buying it up until a week ago, so I expect it'll get released in January. Since it looks to be a slow seller, I'm sure there's no rush to release it though.

Would love to see them do an Ann Hui set, they've been too slow with her individual titles.

There is no YOLD BD that isn't a bootleg.

They have a ton of Catherine Breillat.

My mistake & my package just arrived, it was actually Gallipoli. Old age catching up.

I would hope for something along the lines of the Pasolini set for Breillat. Her films cry out for contextualizing supplements and essays. But if an Eclipse set is what we get, it's better than the nothing we have right now.

I agree, and it seems like her films would be more marketable than those in the Sara Gomez Eclipse set.

Parfait Amour! is the only Breillat that I would want in disc of her films I have seen so far & definitely wouldn’t pick up a box set for it.

Each to their own – I already have most of her films on disc (mostly older DVD releases) and would be pretty thrilled to get a new box set of some kind. Le Chat Qui Fume have been comprehensively working their way through her back-catalogue but unfortunately none of their impressive-looking releases are English-friendly, so it would be great to see equivalent releases of Tapage Nocturne, 36 Fillette, Bluebeard and Sleeping Beauty, among others.

I'd love to see Byambasuren Davaa (Story Of The Weeping Camel, The Cave Of The Yellow Dog, The Two Horses Of Genghis Khan, Veins Of The World).
Tanara Jenkins would also be nice (Slums Of Beverly Hills, The Savages, Private Life).
Jehane Noujaim's documentaries (Startup.com, Control Room, Rafea, The Square, Encounter Point, Budrus).

Kira Muratova, though it would be a shame to relegate her films to Eclipse. Still better than no physical media at all!

Marta Meszaros also is very likely a candidate for an Eclipse set soon.

The first three films of Celine Sciama is an Eclipse set I could see happening.

Vera Cytilova's only ever had Daisies released on Blu-ray, I think Criterion would have access to more of her films.
