Toni, Kokoro, Il Grido and Alone Across The Pacific ordered. Just need that Late Mizoguchi box and my "MOC first 99" will be complete!
peerpee wrote:I think it might be best for Eureka to send out a new sleeve in a clear Amaray to anyone who mails in a fat spined sleeve (no need to send the box). I'll have to check with Eureka though, I can't imagine there'll be that many to deal with.
This would be great if we can confirm it can be done. Don't want to send my sleeves off into the void! My DVD shelves can do with all the extra space they can get!

Only picked up LA GUEULE OUVERTE. Too paranoid about buying DVDs that'll end up getting the HD treatment in the near future.

Just bear in mind:

True, but in my research for an unauthorized tell-all biography of Der Spieler, it seems he's region locked to A, so Criterion could well release a few more titles than you mentioned as well.
But yeah there's plenty of films there nobody's releasing anytime soon in HD

True. But having just started my Blu-ray collection, I feel less compelled spending money on SD titles.

Please tell me you're at least getting Tabu after asking for it a dozen times.

I was asking for it before making the move to HD. But yes, I plan on getting it. I'm also interested in the Yamanaka, Resnais, Franju and Antonioni titles, but one has to choose. I can tell you despise me though.

No, and I'm sorry if I gave that impression. BTW, Nick has specifically said that a Blu of Tabu is unlikely, so I would say buy it without reservations.

Well I know I'm not exactly the best user around these parts, and I spend more time asking questions about releases than discussing the actual movies. It's unfortunate, and it might get on some people's nerves, but I'm somewhat limited by the language "barrier". As I've stated on a few occasions, my primary language of expression is french.

I would participate more thoroughly in actual film discussions if I didn't have that sentiment of being clumsy with words. It makes the act of putting my thoughts to "paper" a bit more difficult and I feel that I would only monopolize threads with clusters of uninteresting and obvious observations. I apologize for being a bit of a pain in the neck, especially when it comes to MoC sales.

May I say, that I personally had no idea english wasn't your native language or that you were struggling a bit with it as your posts are completely fluent.

VERY displeased at MoC right now. I ordered TABU during the last sale, after peerpee told us it now had a normal box, and guess what arrived today? A fat-spined TABU, with a broken case and the booklet hanging loose.

I would not have ordered the movie had I known it still had the fat spine. Is this some way of getting rid of older stock?

I would like some replacement to be arranged, if that's possible...

Apologies. There is occassionally overlap of stock when things are repressed. I'm sure if you write to Kevin he'll sort you out.

Everyone who orders direct should receive a contact email... either [email protected] or [email protected] --- that's the best way to deal directly with all orders.

I have a question for Nick (but other people might also know) : when I buy directly from the MoC shop instead of going to Amazon, how much more money goes in the pocket of MoC and its people ?

Last I checked, and this was with the American Amazon, the pay goes 55/45 Amazon of whatever list price the supplier has set. I suspect bigger distros and companies cut sweetheart deals though

But you must consider that Eureka! doesn't charge for packaging and shipping these orders, and they obviously still have to pay for that. So it's probably less beneficial to them than you might expect to order directly from them, but it's obviously a better way to go if you want to support the company than ordering from Amazon.

They do at least get to pocket the money that would normally go towards VAT when someone orders from overseas, which probably goes a long way.

I didn't consider that! Especially for higher-priced items, that most likely adds up to a healthy sum.
