Instead there is a jarring cut from her opening the lid of the bin to suddenly unmotivatedly sashaying out to the Avengers theme tune!
If I recall correctly, this episode was left out of the inital Sky One showing of Season 9 in the wake of Dunblane, and was sold as an unseen episode on the "Too Hot for TV" vhs.

My dad loves Homer's reponse to being caught out hoarding the supposedly destroyed gun "I swear to you, I'd never thought you'd find out!"

Then came an episode of The Simpsons titled "The Great Phatsby," a hip-hop spoof of the famous novel The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald.

Just thinking of all the episode ideas they have had to come up with over the past 20 years of grinding this show into the dirt fills me with existential dread.

I might be off in my memory of “Simpsons World”, but weren’t the 4:3 versions unrestored?

Yes. Knowing Disney and how long it took them to get to this though, I wouldn’t necessarily expect them to be unrestored this time around. I also wouldn’t expect the commentary tracks any time soon, although it would be an incredibly pleasant surprise if they turned up eventually.

The timing of this with HBOMax launching next week can't be much of a coincidence though

Aspect ratio fix is up, and luckily it appears to be a one time slider. Go to an episode of this show, slide over to the Details tab, and uncheck "Remastered Aspect Ratio". There you go, 4:3. And to my eye, it looks sharper and more colorful than the DVDs, the episodes appear to be in HD despite the OAR fix having been done. Best of all worlds. Now if only they'd add commentaries!

Update: looks like once you do it on one device, the preference is set for your account across the board. Terrific!

Nice to see an elegant solution, though commentaries would make it perfect. There’s an interesting breakdown on their process of using both aspect ratios at https://medium.com/disney-streaming/bri ... 067226556e

Thid looks overly complicated for what basically is a multi-angle presentation.

Odd that they're talking about reusing audio, subtitles and chapter data but switching the video out as if it's some amazing new concept.

Isn’t that just how DVD authoring has worked for almost 25 years?

“Moving forward, ‘The Simpsons’ will no longer have white actors voice non-white characters,” the statement read.
I wonder who they'll get to voice Kang and Kodos?

The irony is, all of the "Caucasian" characters aren't "white", they're yellow.

Why were Kristen Bell and Jenny Slate cast as characters of color in the first place? I realize it's just voice acting, but it seems like a deliberately exclusionary choice. Obviously the Simpsons decision is a groaner since the show is irrelevant, but why would a showrunner go out of their way to craft a black character then cast a white woman to voice them?

What will be their stance on women voicing male characters? :-$

I think Mike Henry not voicing Cleveland on Family Guy from now on may be the even bigger deal, since a lot of the jokes on the show play on the character's race (I started up watching the DVDs from where I left off and immediately got jokes about Cleveland not being able to tell who David Spade was until the Marlon Wayans-starring Senseless was listed in his filmography, as well as an adaptation of
Huckleberry Finn
), and even a whole, albeit short lived, spin off show was built around the character, which always felt a bit iffy when a white actor was voicing him. But then the show also had a talking bear and David Lynch (voicing himself) running the local bar, so I suppose it was not entirely meant to be taken seriously.

But Chinese and Japanese characters in the show are white.

Regarding the former, reading briefly about it, it's very simple: They based the show around Josh Gad, and asked him who he wanted to work with. Leslie Odom Jr. "had" to be in it and to play the dad. Kristen Bell "had" to be in it and to play the daughter. Obviously the first mistake here was basing a show around Josh Gad.

Anyway, I'm so over knowing the actors who do voice roles (unless they are Jon Benjamin). Yes, Kristen Bell is taking a job away from a famous biracial actress, but they're both taking a job away from a talented voice actor. Where is our generation's Mel Blanc?

With regards to the latter, the character is half white/Jewish, as is Jenny Slate. So, not completely off.

He plays Fred and Scooby Doo.

Jenny Slate has a rather unique voice, though, so i think it's fair if that's the voice you want. But I doubt I could pick out Bell when it comes to voice acting. I like Bell, but I watched Frozen God knows how many times before I realized it was her.

Wendell Pierce declared on Twitter that he'd like to play the role.
