I don't know what Kent Jones knows, but if he knows enough to drop a vague comment, its not because he read some internet rumors.

This post at blu-ray.com has a couple of interesting tidbits regarding future artwork for White Material and for Salo. No doubt it's all on Facebook itself, but I've yet to take that plunge.

Apparently Criterion's Facebook wall is now a singles bar!
21 year old Hispanic male in South Texas seeks a girlfriend in Texas who is into the Criterion Collection and used bookstores.

They should know that you can't compete with the erudite, often bizarre and usually slightly upsetting classified ads from the London Review of Books (Woody Allen could make at least five or six films from the inspirational jumping off points they provide!) Here's one from their more recent edition:
Sexually I’m not like Switzerland at all, even although I live there. Monolingual M (53), Lausanne based, seeks F for the usual shenanigans.

Looks like Murder a la Mod is definitely back on. Is this going to be in hi-def? I can't really tell from the screenshot, but if I had to guess, it looks like SD.

Interesting that they are giving away a Third Man and a Contempt.

I can't for the life of me figure out what is between House and White Dog?

--Edit--

After a lot of zooming and checking, I found out it is the Merchant Ivory release of Maurice. Although the Criterion site has a different cover (they updated the cover on this line?)

Black Moon, isn't it? That unicorn horn in the bottom-left, and the raven on the right. Or bird-like thing.

Michael K. Williams at the Criterion offices. Could this bode well for Life During Wartime? [-o<

Of course it's Life During Wartime. MPI has been pretty good at getting their IFC titles out 2-3 months after theatrical. Criterion...not so much.

The film came out last July, even if it makes the June solicits, that's a pretty big gap for a first run title. I wonder/hope this gap occured as a result of Criterion working out a one-off deal with Lionsgate for Happiness. It would be somewhat odd for Criterion to release a sequel and not the original, especially since elements like casting differences between the two films is important in helping to understand what Solondz was doing thematically with LDW.

Of course it could also just be Omar absconding with Criterion's re-up.

It doesn't cost more to do a cover in color, Criterion

Yeah, that's a gross cover, butt-ugly. The only way it could work is with a wash of color underneath the line art.

And that's definitely not Charles Burns... closer to the stoogish propaganda stylings of like Shepard Fairey and his ilk, ugh.

If there's going to do the interconnected images person thing, why not get that guy who did the Arab Strap cover?
