As for all of the LGBTQ films, Parting Glances, The Watermelon Woman, A Jihad for Love, and more are all streaming on the LGBTQ specific platform REVRY (watch.revry.tv). Parting Glances even appears to have an interview with director Bill Sherwood.

Generally the Sony/Columbia titles haven't been carried over to Hulu/Filmstruck, and it still shows the SPC banner with no Janus or anything else, so it may just be a temporarily licensed thing as part of the subcategory its in (Adventures in Moviegoing with Michael Cera).

Hope they've done something about the timeouts...
Edit: And fix the crashes...

I've got three devices in my living room (Samsung Smart TV, Xbox One, PS4) all wired directly to my Gigabit router and none of them will likely have a FilmStruck app within this calendar year (or ever). It really is their loss. The sluggishness with which they've been adding new platforms has been enough to probably tank this entire service.

This. Also, the film stream 'sticking'. I have watched several movies where every two or three minutes a frame slightly lags or 'sticks' and it is slight, but unbearably noticeable. I'm a Criterion collector! I realize film streaming wont have be as great as watching a film on Blu-ray, but I put my foot down when the frames don't transition smoothly.
EDIT: I'm giving the app on Roku a whirl (I own an Apple TV, Xbox One S, and a Roku Premiere) and it is working noticeably better than the Apple TV application. This comes as somewhat of a surprise considering my Apple TV usually has a pretty spotless performance (not to say that my Roku isn't fantastic as well). A lot of people are complaining about buffering, but I haven't had any. I'm really,
really happy with the new Roku app.

I haven't had too much trouble with the playback itself, though I've only watched a few titles so far, it's just the rest of it that's been unpredictable, this being with the Roku 3. I did finish setting up a watchlist using the website (much quicker and timeout free). (Would it work better with a faster Roku?)
And I plan to watch FS more during the remaining free weeks. Not certain whether I'll get around to paying for it (already have a kevyip from hell, and then there's the dvr that does a good job of distracting me from that, and then there's some stuff on Prime that I really should get to but hardly ever manage to...).

Does anyone know why certain films are bizarrely not on Filmstruck, such as Band of Outsiders, Dillinger Is Dead, and L'Enfance Nue? Band of Outsiders was never on Hulu either for some reason. Strange.

As you're noting, not every film has been carried over from Hulu. Two members posted long lists of Hulu exclusive titles that haven't made it so far. My guess is since the Filmstruck Criterion Channel already has more films than Hulu's channel overall, they're holding back a relatively small percentage of titles so they can dribble them out slowly to add to the impression of continually added content. Don't have time right now to check it, but Criterion may not have streaming rights to
Band of Outsiders. There are certainly other major foreign language films that haven't been available on either service so far, like
Cul de sac and
Kagemusha.

Well Cul de Sac was licensed from a major studio, so that's probably why. There are a few studio titles on FilmStruck like Blow Out and Dressed to Kill, but my feeling is those streaming rights are more expensive so Criterion simply can't afford to role them out en masse. Band of Outsiders isn't licensed from a major Hollywood studio, which is why I was wondering. It's a Gaumont title, and all the other Gaumont titles are available on FilmStruck.

Got my Chromecast (Ultra) and signed up for my free trial. Watched Mystery Train -- which looked and sounded great. And checked how Lloyd's Ask Father looked -- which was about the same as the Lloyd Family's DVD version (I think).
