Never mind, y'all. I figured out how to sell Blind Chance to the layperson.

You mean it isn't?
Obviously you've got the right image for
Blind Chance. Your cover gave me an idea for a cover for this film that might not work, but could convey a bit more of what it's about. It would involve capturing a moment when Witek stumbles with three superimposed images of the running man running, falling, recovering - i.e. split in three. If you want to get all swimminghorses about it, the three figures could be in different species of garish neon.

I actually tried something like this (minus neon) but didn't have the right screen caps for it. I may try capping a few off my disc and try again.

Good job on Letter from an Unknown Woman.

I don't care for the size or the font of the title of "My Winnipeg"...but I like everything else from your cover. Not sure what the answer is to the title....but aside from that it looks pretty cool to me.

I agree with Tribe. Even though I didn't care for the movie, that is the most impressive image that remains with me from the film.

The "Letter from an Unknown Woman" cover is nice, although it is very reminiscent of the "Zodiac" special edition.

Blind Chance reminds me of Two-Lane Blacktop, and instead of a yellow font, I remember more Green from the film. The Kino disc has a pretty bland cover, with just a screaming face....

I'd like to see Stop Making Sense do Stop Making Sense.

I'm pretty burned out on cover-making at the moment, but I still like seeing what other poster come up with. I thought it might be a good idea then - to boister participation - to share resources with the forum at large.
To start, here's my spine template. (I hope this site works for everyone, I wasn't sure how to go about uploading it.) You'll need Photoshop, of course. I use Photoshop Elements. To change the colors on the spine and wacky c just double click the respective fill layers. The template is the same size as the covers on Criterion's website, though I tend to make the covers themselves at double that and then resize them before placing them in the template.
For images, here's a list of sites that offer decent-to-great stills.
MovieGoods and
ImpAwards: Great for theatrical posters.
Allmoviephoto: For recent films.
Tout le cine: The Holy Grail. It's French.
Outnow.ch: Occasionally useful.
Dr. Macro: Lots of Old Hollywood.
Google Image Search: Duh. If you are having trouble finding results, search for films in languages other than their own. IMDB usually has a list of alternate titles. Try the same thing with directors if they have any alt spellings. I usually search Title+Director's Surname to start.
DVDBeaver: Screencaps
Blu-Ray.com: Ditto
I use the following sites to find great fonts:
Dafont
Smashing Magazine
FontSpace
I hope all of this will be helpful to others. Also, SLH, the braille Dancer cover is very nice.

If that cover was for real, can you tell me how you were expecting to market it. Blind people?

I'd assume the same way they marketed Marienbad.

Marienbad is not braille.

You can read it with your eyes closed, so close enough.

Anyway, it did have quite a large sticker on front with the title and director. In a theoretical world where a theoretical release of Dancer had this theoretical cover, theoretically it could work. In theory.

Another great resource is
Font Squirrel, which is a directory of quite a few free, commercially usable fonts.

Damn, that Prénom Carmen cover would be enough to get me to buy the film again, even if the current transfer is excellent. Nice work.
I laughed at MO'ZU as well.
