posting this out of curiosity, in case anyone knows: when did the Criterion Designs book disappear from the Criterion store? I saw a copy at a local independent book store yesterday for $48 and I quickly tried to look this up on my smart phone and could not find it on Criterion.com and the Amazon listings I could find this morning when logging into my Prime account are only from third-party vendors for outrageous prices. (I really don't need this book naturally, but if it has gone officially OOP, $48 sounds like a fantastic find.)
It has been completely out of print for over a year. Imve been looking for it everywhere. I’m a graphic designer and illustrator and would love to have it in my library for reference. Would you be willing to tell me where the book store is, or possibly have the book shipped to me?

I did not think to put that copy on hold- Half Price books allows you to put things on hold for up to three days- when I called back to the store this copy had already sold. I asked them to check around at the other stores in our state that ships for free and none of them had any copies available for any price (nor any online). Neither of the people behind the counter I asked had any idea about this book being hard to find or any idea what it was about. sigh.

If I ever see a copy come thru any of our local stores again I will send you a PM.
I guess my thought it to keep checking back to resale and used-independent stores around late April or early May when college semesters end and students and profs sell off their books for much-needed cash.

Just noticed there's a
third volume of Criterion postcards, now in their online store.

There are a few I wouldnt mind at all (Tampopo, the Marseille trilogy, Good Morning, etc) but I dont think I'd like paying $15+shipping for the 5 postcards I like.

I wish they still included postcards in their releases. Opening a new release and wondering which postcard you received was kind of like opening up a pack of baseball cards as a kid and wondering who you got.

I hated the postcards and glad Criterion stopped. I din't need and extra... just to throw in the garbage. I tried giving them away and no one wanted them.

Based on precedent, the February flash sale should begin on Tuesday the 12th.

I'm not sure there's enough precedent to support that:
2/13/18
2/28/17
2/23/16
3/10/15
2/25/14
2/26/13
2/14/12
Furthermore, I'm not yet convinced that they'd have a flash sale before the Bergman box is back in stock, which is now listed as March 3rd.

I was just going off last year, but I'd love for it to be in late February.

It will be tied to a big release, and there's no big releases for a few weeks unless the Bergman box comes back in print early

Berlin Alexanderplatz is a pretty big release.

In terms of "big" releases being defined by links, Current articles, social media reviews, etc, the March 19th releases have been the most hyped now for months. I don't mean to suggest that either Wanda or Detour are going to be profiled in mainstream press avenues (with or without a sale tie-in) but combined those two titles have been more talked about and for longer than any other upcoming announced 2019 titles.
What is interesting is that there are no releases scheduled for March 5th, outside of Bergman box coming back. However, I cannot myself recall any past sale taking place specifically to be a tie-in to a set becoming available from back-order status solely, rather than an out-of-print status or re-lease with new special features. Somehow just coming back from back-order status doesn't seem like the sole exclusive reason for a flash sale.

My take on it is that it had an original planned date, whatever that may have been (today or otherwise), and it’s been rescheduled due to the Bergman set.

Is it just me or did the Bergman set get moved back another couple of days? I would still expect the flash sale to be set for whenever the second printing is ready. It was one of their most mammoth releases ever and by their own omission sold way more (or just faster) than expected. Seems like a no-brainer, but I also haven't bought it yet so it's also wishful thinking on my part.

The Bergman Box is now in stock, so I imagine the sale will be Tuesday

It occurs to me that Black History Month is...this month, and Tuesday is when To Sleep With Anger is released. And with the Bergman box back in stock, I'm about 99% certain the sale is Tuesday.

Has anybody else had the site crash whenever trying to access their wish list?

I was able to get into the Wish List without it crashing.

I have a feeling that they will have flash sale after they get the My Criterion back on line.

That's really strange. I wonder what the problem could be?
