Also, it's funny how Amazon lists this film as Weapons of Mass Destruction.

I've no idea what's going on in this image, but at least the stuffed bear does not seem to mind being molested.

If your hero image is three hammy actors molesting a stuffed bear (let's face it, you could do worse), why on earth would you obscure the bear? To protect his identity?

Perhaps the bear just had a better clause in his contract?

When things get really tough in the film, Anne Heche ties the sweater over her shoulders and goes grocery shopping

A case where original poster art should not be used:

I'm trying to figure out what his expression says in that picture. "Can you believe it? I get home after a hard day's work, just wanting to sit by the fire, and I can't even get the dog to bring my slippers."

How did this get an 18 rating?

Maybe the ratings board didn't like the scene of peasants pissing into the tractor's radiator.

There's been some talk on the Mr Bongo thread about the actual legitimacy of the BBFC certificates on their releases. Perhaps they've not actually resubmitted the film for DVD release (the only details on the BBFC's website are for a U certificate from a 1991 video release) and are just erring on the side of caution due to the original A for adult certificate given in the 1930s by giving it the highest possible rating. Plus, if I'm being cynical, maybe they hope it could cause some unwary purchasers to pick the film up blind in the hopes of some earthy 18-rated shenanigans (in the 2010 meaning of the certificate) occurring?

Well there's the naked thrashing scenes - they'd probably still attract some kind of restrictive rating, though 18 does seem rather extreme.

The 18 rating is not official, it's just Mr Bongo erring on the side of caution, as they don't seem to bother getting their films classified by the BBFC. According to the BBFC website, the only film Mr Bongo have submitted was their first release Soy Cuba
I can only assume that the cost of getting this first release classified led them to taking a gamble on not classifying subsequent releases.

They're taking a huge gamble if they are indeed releasing films without first submitting them to the BBFC. If anyone finds out, they will have to withdraw all their releases and get them submitted.

Maybe it's because the film contains graphic scenes depicting a spectre haunting Europe?
