I'm betting The Man with the Golden Arm.

Maybe we'll get very lucky and it'll be Preminger and Stoppard's THE HUMAN FACTOR, but I'm not counting on it given its troubled release history.
I wonder if Criterion will be picking up Bass' PHASE IV with the fantastic original ending that was discovered in the Academy Film Archives.
His shorts deserve more recognition, too.

Looking at his poster work; the most likely choice would have to be a reissue of Milos Forman's
The Fireman's Ball with the Saul Bass artwork.
I also agree that
Seconds is a very good possibility. In addition to the credit sequence linked above; he also did the film's theatrical poser which is pretty cool:

Advise & Consent is my guess.

While I'd adore a Criterion BD of
Advise & Consent, the Warner Brothers' DVD is still in-print and has a decent audio commentary. I'd assume that this would mean that it's off of their acquisition list, but that pattern hasn't always held up in the past (see:
Putney Swope,
Y tu Mama Tambien, etc.).
I think that the guess of
Seconds is as good as any that I've heard so far. It's a well regarded and OOP release from a famous American director featuring one of the biggest stars of the 60s in the lead. Oh, and its pretty damn good to boot.

That's a Drew Casper commentary on A&C and he spends the whole time talking about how Preminger is a lousy director, so your definition of decent doesn't quite gel with mine!

I'm just going off of memory, since I watched it when the Controversial Classics box set was released a decade ago. To be honest, I don't remember any harping on Preminger, but I'm not saying that it isn't there.

Hmmmm... A friend on Facebook who knows these things just informed me that the Blu of Frank Perry's THE SWIMMER is going to be put out by Grindhouse Releasing.

here is a
press release from Grindhouse Releasing confirming
The Swimmer and
The Big Gundown(Their first two Blu-rays are going to be
Corruption and
An American Hippie in Israel)
Four additional titles will follow in late 2013 and late 2014: Sergio Sollima's THE BIG GUNDOWN, THE SWIMMER, starring Burt Lancaster, Duke Mitchell's GONE WITH THE POPE and S.F. Brownrigg's SCUM OF THE EARTH (a.k.a. POOR WHITE TRASH PART 2). According to Murawski, the company's entire back catalog will also appear in new Blu-ray editions soon thereafter.

I'm struggling to think of
any Casper commentary that isn't fairly awful

"Coming soon on Blu-Ray! Grindhouse Releasing is proud to present the Deluxe Edition of this late 60s Burt Lancaster classic, with a stunning new HD master created trom super-high resolution 4K scans of the original film elements, and loads of extras. "

And this one's north of two hours. If Criterion does release the film, maybe the bonus feature will be ditching the commentary.
I'd be very pleased if the Bass hint is aimed at
Seconds. If any film needs a fresh HD transfer, it's this one. (And I'd never seen that fantastic poster before now, so thanks for that!)

Given that Warners hasn't released it Seconds seems more a question of when then if. That said if there's one other film with a Bass poster I'd kill for it would be Nine Hours to Rama.

Seconds is Paramount owned.

Yes, but per the Warner-Paramount deal...

OK, I see what he was saying then (the DVD hasn't been re-issued, so its less likely that it's part of the 600-ish titles Warner licensed).

Seconds is not among 600 titles licensed to WB.

Too bad, it's my favorite of all of his posters, followed by the unused
The Magnificent Seven poster and rejected
The Shining artwork (all of which are better than what they used).
Was
Stalag 17 part of the deal?
other possibilities:
Bunny Lake Is Missing (Columbia/Sony)
Birdman Of Alcatraz (MGM)
Less likely:
Tell Me You Love Me, Junie Moon
Saint Joan
The Cardinal

You misread his post. He said that Seconds was not licensed by Paramount to Warner Brothers and thus a Criterion is likely.

I was picking up on other speculation that Warner was likely to include in a supposed deal with Criterion those titles that it had licensed from others but would otherwise relegate to the archives. A title I wouldn't mind upgrading to blu & which is apparently out of print, but not very probable is
Walk On The Wild Side which I believe is Columbia/Sony.

It would be utterly shocking and completely mind-boggling if Warner sub-licensed any of the titles they've licensed from Paramount (or Samuel Goldwyn, for that matter). They licensed those titles so they could release them, either through the WA, re-issued DVDs, or Blu-ray upgrades.
The only Paramount titles available to Criterion are those not licensed to Warner or Olive.
Stalag 17 was licensed to Warner.

I'm not familiar with costs/benefits of sublicensing, but I highly doubt WB will be releasing 600 older Paramount blu-rays on top of their own blu-ray releases in the next couple of years.
