swastika and eyepatch will be no problem... breasts exposed will be a challenge. I'll work on it.

also, should I add a subtitle?

A Canterbury Tale:

or, How I Learned to stop worrying about health
hazards due to pipe tobacco, and love the
gun-wielding kangaroo with the gigantic tube-
socked penis while trying to come to terms
with the fact that I stole alain delon's hat and
subsequently had my hands replaced with a
hook and a chainsaw which this truck driver
named rusty thought was so funny he paid
for my woody woodpecker tattoo and signed
me up for shimmy lessons from a group of
interstellar traveling alien burlesque dancers.

has a nice ring to it, no?

So the Olivier set will be without disc two of Richard the III?

I'm sure its a typo. All of the features on that disc are listed, so unless they're authoring a new disc with all the supplements AND the feature, I'd say the thing meant to say 4 discs.

Considering two of these releases are top-tier prices on their own, the $79.99 price point for the set is a bargain and a half. I never would have picked these up seperately, but...

That is a classy cover IMO....I like the rough cartboard look of it and the combination of just 3 colours...

Yeah, that is a really nice design. Why can't they get good artists more often.

It reminds me of the Cassavetes box set. Same designer, perhaps?

This new cover works better. I like the inclusion of the directors names on the bottom. and now the woman has hands.

Man, this site has to be a major influence over at Criterion.

Even just fixing the smudge in the sky to look intentional helps. I too prefer the new director credit.

meh.

Hopefully they plan on changing the text for the director's credits. At least bold it or do something so it's fairly legible.

I liked the old one, but I agree this version is better.

I'm afraid I think it still looks rubbish... it's even more depressing to think that if they've gone to the bother of changing it, that that design is likely to be final :(

If it is, I am seriously considering doing my own, total novice with imaging software that I am... something in black and white based on a still.

It's like, find 10 differences between new and old covers.

They added an extra ray of sun on the background, the bird is not crossed over, the town has more houses around the church and they added a tank with soldiers. Unfortunately, once a lush - always a lush...

I'd say so. if someone from criterion is reading this, I think it would be super cool of you to let us decide a release's art one of these days. maybe give us a few examples and we'll have a vote...

The cover was not necessarily saved by us. The main difference is that the old version has no detail anywhere but the face. The shading on the dress makes me think that black and white picture was quickly colourized in photoshop to meet a deadline. It's likely that it was draft and revisions were already imminent. Anyway, I would only pat our collective backs tentatively.

hot damn, the fine folks and staff over at Criterion are undoubtely hanging on our every word i say!
Further, I would only pat our collective backs after everyone has had a good, hot shower, with soap.

I can't believe they didn't tinker with the font at all. To me, it seemed like that was clearly one of the ugliest things about the cover.

Thankfully, Michael Powell's name has been corrected today. It was bound to happen sooner or later, obviously.

I just went to have a look...see maybe if they changed the font. Man I still hate that damn cover.

I've had four people, who don't know eachother, on seperate occasions, mistake the cover and spine for Late Spring as saying "Hate Spring". One one of them corrected themselves, I had to tell the others. hmm.
