I like the clear amarays, I just miss the double-wides.

they were ugly, huge, plastic monstrosities.domino harvey wrote:They were better when they had the wide 2-Disc sets, I miss those more than anything.
True but they do have something unique. I still think it`s a pity they don`t use them anymore...tavernier wrote:...which took up valuable space on my shelf!
Saw this out for sale tonight; comes in a figure-eight clear amaray.denti alligator wrote:What about the Martha Graham?
I miss the wider 2-disc cases too. The problem with the ones with the flap in the middle is that it doesn't leave room for a thick booklet like the one Criterion usually includes in most of their releases. So they are stuck with the figure-eight cases which I hate.Feego wrote:As for 2-disc cases, I am glad they no longer use the large cases that take up so much space. However, I'm not a huge fan of digi-packs either. I prefer the ones Warner Bros. uses, with the extra flap in the middle.
They don't always include digipacks with tremendous booklets. Take The Third Man and The Spirit of the Beehive for instance.DonShye wrote:I miss the wider 2-disc cases too. I think Playtime and Spirit of the Beehive's packaging was more a matter of testing the waters...and somehow, the waters said that those silly figure eight packages were better. The Third Man, if you recall, was originally to be released around the same time as those two discs. I imagine that Criterion had a model for The Third Man's final packaging complete by then, and after 'delaying' the disc, decided to keep the overall design rather than switch to the figure eight. The Elegant Dandy Fop wrote:They don't always include digipacks with tremendous booklets. The Last Emperor is the best bet and a no-brainer for a Christmas release.Maybe there's another release coming for December that hasn't been announced yet?
