Looks like the dog is wearing a back pack or a sweater or something too...

they confirmed 8 1/2 was coming to Blu, but I don't see the dog connection.

There have been a lot of totally irrelevant animal clues.

I don't see the dog connection either so perhaps it has to do with some revamped extras on the new edition. Maybe Umberto D. is coming to Blu-ray as well?

Come on, people. It's clearly Blue's Clues: The First Eight-and-a-Half Seasons.

It is a hint at the upcoming "John and Kate plus 8" retrospective release. The dogs representing birth being found in the nature of dog more so than human. The half dog represents the unity of what was once a married couple but now a broken entity. The blue? Well, all of America and popular culture was deeply upset by the divorce. I'm thrilled about this release. Finally, Criterion is staying relevant by bringing some high brow views to low brow reality TV culture.

The clue definitely points to 8 1/2 on Blu-ray. Maybe the dogs refer to Wag the Dog? They did say they wanted to have more Mamet in the collection.

Unless I'm forgetting a exception or two, the featured animals rarely have anything to do with the film being hinted at. They are lifts from previously-released Criterion titles. We seem to go through this every month.

Are you saying that sometimes a dog is just a dog?

So now 8 1/2 Blu dogs can mean anything now... then Reservoir Dogs.

The dog's name must be Ray.

The announcement for EARLY BERGMAN had seven seals.

Blue Dogs = 8½ BD maybe? You know, BD as in the official abbreviation for Blu-ray disc. I'm just saying...

I like to think of this thread as our gift to Criterion for all the complaints we give them. How they must convulse with laughter every time they read this after sending out a newsletter. It's like putting a sock over a cat's head and watching him creep backwards, bumping into everything as he tries to wriggle his head free.

That's actually pretty good, though.

I just assumed that the blue dogs meant that Criterion was coming out against the public option.

I thought I was the only one who did stuff like that to the cats.

Did you ever tie a plastic bag to one's tail?

I felt guilty later. :(

My favorite was putting scotch tape on the bottom of their paws.

I once tied a bunch of helium balloons to the tail of my cat. He was surprisingly unconcerned.
