Included in the new deluxe edition box set of the Rolling Stones' 1969 live album, Get Yer Ya-Ya's Out, is a "bonus" DVD featuring a film composed of footage of the Stones' 1969 Madison Square Garden concerts and some other events surrounding them. Frankly, for me, it is the main attraction of this 4-disc set. The film, Get Yer Ya-Ya's Out, is essentially outtakes from Gimme Shelter and so acts as kind of a companion piece (or maybe an appetizer) to that film. It has all the joy and thrill of GS without all the horror and whole Death of the Sixties vibe. I suppose I don't have much else to say about it other than to recommend it to Stones fans (who will probably be as floored by the performance of "Satisfaction" as I was). The box set is expensive, but I think the film (and the bonus disc of B.B. King and Ike & Tina performances) makes it well worth the price.

Saw it at the NYFF, it was on the same bill as the latest Manoel de Oliveira film (probably because he and Mick Jagger are the same age).

Definitely worth seeing. A time machine back to that concert would also be a good thing.
