Does anyone know if this US release is cut? The packaging says it's rated R, but how this film could possibly get that rating makes me wonder...

I’ve got no idea how to take this movie which reminds me of nothing less than Fassbinder’s Querelle though obviously far less stylized. It’s such a weird, cheerfully angry movie where humanity haunts against social progress creating this cesspool of violent indifference. I’m not sure if I liked this, but it’s definitely memorable for being unique.

An interesting piece of trivia is that Madonna lobbied heavily for the role of Tralala and was very upset not to get it. Apparently Courtney Love also auditioned for the role.
