As long as you buy Coeur Fidele you're good

Haha, the only one I'm skipping is Harakiri, and that's only because of the overlap with Criterion. I melted a computer down getting Coeur Fidele to play and I still don't regret getting that sucker.

I'll buy all the dual-format releases in the near future except for the Antonioni's.

And then I'll get 'round to the Lang, Murnau and Imamura DVDs.

It was kind of a slow year for Blu-rays (11 releases last year vs 8 this year) but we now know the reason and it ended with a bang. Next year will be wonderful, I'm sure.

I was able to catch up with last year releases but I still need to get two Blu-rays from this year plus the upcoming four of course.

I got Profound Desires of the Gods! Now I just need to get a BluRay player, or make friends with someone who owns one...

Let's hope all that love lubricates some more Eptein coming down the pipe. Finis Terrae is not a cert for the Potemkine box for example.

Oh why not:

Best Releases:

A Man Vanishes
Coeur fidele
The Ballad of Narayama
Pigs and Battleships
Touch of Evil

Best Supplement:

Commentary/ies on Tiger and Tomb - made it worth buying these discs even though I already had the excellent Fantoma edition and don 't even like the films!

Best Cover:
La signora senza camelie

Best Release:
1) Coeur fidele
2) (tie) La signora senza camelie & Le amiche
4) Fritz Lang's Indian Epic
5) Schloss Vogelöd

Best Supplement: I really need to buy the Indian Epic and listen to the Kalat comms. They're always great.

Best Cover: La signora senza camelie... but any of the covers in the stylings of classic poster art are a winner.

Agreed I had them on a French box-set and had also been largely indifferent to them: I've still to watch the second film, but I'll be watching it with commentary on, also!
